Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Hey everyone, today i talk about 2nd gen cummins. This is my story from when i bought the truck until now. I talk about basic upgrades i have done for suspension, drivetrain, cosmetics and performance. My truck is pretty basic but i work on it more every year. Enjoy and stay tuned for part #2. Josh

I bought a 2002 short bed 24valve standard trans. Put a first gen edge three stage 100hp. A airdog 150gpm and overload airbags. Hauled Gooseneck trailers from the Rockies to Minnesota,Chicago,Miami,Houston ,Tennessee,Columbus Ohio,Monterey Mexico. Just a few. I have 300,000 on it with no blow by and drive it everyday. Just now putting in the first new clutch. The airdog and edge has never given me any trouble. Do yourselves a favor and run Royal Purple in everything you’ve got !

I've owned my 1997 since new. It has served me very well and still does at 350k. Shortly after changing the torque plate to get more power, sure enough, I noticed my torque converter starting to slip. I made a few changes to the auto transmission (heavy duty torque converter and upgraded valve body), the rest of the transmission is still original. I towed RVs with it about 80k miles. I've met RV haulers who put 1.3 million miles towing with 2500s and 3500s (half of those miles towing and half returning empty). I'm on the second muffler and tailpipe, second radiator, third set of calipers, second set of front hub bearings, second set of front u-joints. I have a by-pass oil filter, new fuel lines (diesel resistant rubber) from tank to engine, new brake lines and heavy duty brake cylinders in the rear wheels. After replacing battery sets every 5-6 years, I finally bought AGM batteries two winters ago. The crankshaft position sensor is known to fail suddenly after many years. The most visible symptom is the malfunction of the rpm needle. The steering brace add-on improved steering a lot, as the sector shaft bearing is weak in the original steering box.

I’ve owned my 97 12v for 7 years now. No overdrive when I bought it, replaced the 47re a year later and it just went out. Your library of nv4500 swap videos are what I’m going to use for guidance in swapping out my auto. Been watching you vids and appreciate all of them, thanks.

The absolute 100% must do things that you immediately need to do to your second GEN Cummins when you buy it or if you already bought it, is to put in a quality set of gauges (I personally recommend max tow gauges) EGT boost and fuel pressure. If you were not that concerned about boost pressure then you need a transmission temperature gauge. Next after getting quality set of gauges you need to get a quality lift pump such as a airdog or a fass or some sort of mechanical lift pump. After those two things are done you can then start looking into air intakes and exhaust systems. I think those are the most important things that need to be done before anybody even thinks of putting in a tuner or a chip

Excellent informative video. Great advice there at the end. If you're gonna go for big power with one of these, you should know going into it that it will be a snowball of expense and upgrades.

Thank you! Yes you got it. For me it was stay around a 350-400hp range and everything handled it just fine. But going that next step over 500 can bring that snowball effect. Depending on the driver…

I really enjoy these 2nd gen videos, unfortunately I don't have a cummins but I have a 5.9 360 v8, actual this coming Friday I'm tackling the nv 3500 swap, from automatic to a manual, very useful, especially the template

I'm the outlier 2nd gen owner I bought the ultra rare 1999 Ram 2500 4x4 quad cab V10 with 70k on the odometer mechanically it sound . Just suffering from a bad case of broken dash and the previous owner attempted to remove the heater core with all the screws out of the dash completely disassemble I got it for $2,500 .and for the past 2 years I have been reassembling the dash with parts from LMC truck and my local salvage yard the day I picked it up the previous owner crank the truck turned it off and it's been in my driveway waiting for me to finish reconnecting the is under the dash

I bought a 2nd gen cummins this year and i had to do the transmission lines as well. They are bracketed together and the vibration rubbed a hole in one. I highly recommend any owner check theirs. Make sure they are not touching each other.

I’ve owned my 02 2500 24v with a factory nv5600 for about a year and a half now. Also grew up with them my whole life. Legit got it from a grandpa who used it to commute and occasionally tow. I 100% love this truck and plan on keeping it forever. Haven’t done anything yet but planning on 35s, thuren front end with carli pintops. Also I’m only 18 lol

I have owned a second GEN 1999 for over 22 years. You can’t kill it I have the pictures to prove it. I’ve worked it religiously every single day and you just can’t beat the 5.9 Cummins you can’t take it from someone who is not paid by Dodge or commons to see it to say it. The proof of the pudding has been in the tasting. The three best things I have done to the truck of course not pit me personally not me personally Was I put a 1 ton transmission in the three-quarter ton, I had a shop house build it in house and a house and the second is the lift Pump I removed the stock lift pump and installed a FASS lift pump along with the new generation of injection Pump by Bosch Bosch. If you do those things. I don’t believe in messing with the computer I don’t believe in chips unless you’re super super knowledgeable about those and you keep the maintenance up-to-date you should be OK

Would you go back to the edge if you had the chance? Was the power from the quadzilla a big enough difference to sacrifice that smooth power
