Huge mismatch of energy between the dog and the family, you could see it from the start. I really hope this dog will find a loving home.

Exactly this. The family got a young, highly active dog and aren't up to giving her the exercise and stimulation needed to keep her happy. They have no space for her to run in and aren't active people who would run/hike with her, always going at a short slow-paced walk. Their idea of playing is sitting on a couch and lightly tossing a ball. Even when Victoria was doing the agility training, they did not seem happy, like "Oh no, do we have to do that?" They should have gotten a little couch potato lapdog, if anything, instead. At least they made the decision to re-home Marley, despite it showing they had zero intention of doing anything active or proactive.

I hope maybe Victoria can help with finding a home for it too. I am sure she knows more places to look. If I was the family though, I would look for a dog walker that could take her out solo. Even if it's 1 walk a day for awhile that will probably help. Since I would think the mom works & kids are at school.

I loved the wobble Kong, but my cattle dog would pick it up and drop it like the normal kong trying to get the treats out of the wobbling fast enough. But I am definitely going to try the copy training.

This is they type of dog that needs to have been properly socialized as if she was dog friendly going to the dog park would be a great outlet. But she is not. And living in an apt... this dog needs an owner that is a runner, owner that has a large 1 acre yard, or a job. Like bombsniffer, agility, protection work, something.

I definitely agree she needed to be socialized especially from a young age. But I’ve heard way too many stories of dogs getting attacked or learning bad habits from other dogs at the dog park; which could lead to reactive behaviors. But one on one in a controlled environment with a friendly dog growing up would have been amazing for her.

Having another dog does not equal social. The other dog becomes part of their pack. My dog is very social, she is a Staffy, she goes to the dog park n an off lead beach. She loves to play with the other dogs. I just have to watch her with little dogs as she doesn't understand that they don't want to play with her. She has been chased by little dogs at the dog park n just runs away from them.

14:39 that’s really good but once you leave the likelihood, the owners are going to take their pets out to that kind of facility or park is very very low. So you need to make it as easy and as convenient as possible. It has to be right next-door and it has to be free of charge. And even then, it’s still very unlikely that you’re going to successfully get people to keep up with that kind of training regularly. Even people that are home all day are unlikely to do things that are outside of their normal daily activities. No matter how much it’ll help their pup.

All these people saying they hope she got a new home? If people were even capable of understanding or feeling even 1 or 2 % of the absolutely detrimental emotional damage dogs go through when being rehomed. Especially when they are being rehomed because of the lack of basic obedience training are already experiencing a variety of bad emotions and therefore putting out bad destructive habits. I hope she is ok. They are missing out on something awesome. Too bad they don't see their dog 4 the gem she is.

They were being honest with themselves and realized they couldn't provide their dog what she needs. Rehoming her is a lot better than letting her chew up property and terrorize other animals. It's unfortunate that she wasn't properly socialized but in the little time that they were trying to train her you could tell that she's highly adaptable. The owners just couldn't match their dog's energy and put in the effort in training her. Might as well give her to a family that could.

As much as I respect Victoria, I can’t agree with some of her methods here. I would not use the squeaky toy on a dog with strong prey drive as it sounds like dying prey! You can keep training upbeat without that. She needs more challenge to tire her out like a doggie backpack and biking rather than a casual stroll. Terriers are high energy dogs and yes more prey drive. You will end up with a dead cat. Unless you can give intense exercise up to two hours a day.

Now he is 15 and an absolute couch potato. Wouldn't trade him for the world. If you are thinking of adopting a staffy but this looks too hard for you, consider getting an older one. I don't think these women have what it takes to be firm enough to get this dog in line. It looks like their dog is the alpha in the house.

Submissive and weak people should not be buying dominant and high energy dogs like this one. Sad but by looking at these girls faces I fear this dog will be given up.
