Owner's BYD Dolphin Checked Out On Genting / We Used 32% Battery / YS Khong Driving
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
We got a chance to check out the newly launched BYD Dolphin on our favourite mountain, thanks to our strong supporter, Derek.
This is the higher spec variant with the extended battery, and we used up 32 percent of the battery for the climb.
As with all electric cars, the acceleration is great, and after a bit of getting to know the car better, it handled the corners quite well.

Nice road to Genting and what a nice car 😍
Good drive uncle YS! Totally different feel when you drive an EV as compared to ICE up the mountain. EVs are really good in spirited drive. However, I still miss the engine revs as well as the gear changes. Old school...

it must be really exciting in the car, he practically test the car as though he is on a track.
How many clicks on the screen does it take to switch off the lane assist? Basic functions like that should be on a dedicated panel switch IMO..
The driver having too much fun. 👏👏👏
wow, spirited driving!
Great car. Yes get some Michelin Primacy rubber on it for safety - and remove the below 30 km/h sound and the plastic on the horn button, then you’ll be really set up
Not bad, 140k ringgit equivalent in Australia to drive away
very nice submariner on your wrist
Aduh sy penat tahan napas tgk uncle drive. fuhhh fuhhh.
Given the traffic condition, this is considered very mild driving by uncle YS's standard. Yet, the uphill drive of about 20 km already used up 32% of the juice, which came up to >1% for every km traveled. In other words, with this kind of climb, the range of the car would fall far short of 100 km. There could be several factors contributing to this power-hungry behavior: the efficiency of the motors (drawing a lot of juice when they are working hard), the power management system (the software could not manage power well when the car was not being driven "normally"), the nature of lithium-ion battery (losing charge very fast when temperature of the battery gets excessively hot), weight of the 60 kwh battery itself (about 350 kg which is equivalent to weight of five adults). It would be interesting to see a comparison of different EVs and see how they stack up.

YS brought out the best of the car.
The steering has comfort/sport mode in screen settings that is separate from the physical toggle switch (that only adjusts the throttle response) Also the car was on high regen mode, based on my experience if put it in standard regen mode the acceleration feels even better

Yes, we put it to sport.
I know that a lot of EV uses regenerative braking where it coverts it into electrical power to charge the battery so I was curious to see if the battery level went up at the bottom of the hill or what the battery level was

Nice drive. Interesting that people actually lend their 1 week old vehicle to some hard driving person to drive up Genting. Because for new cars, we will usually very sayang the engine and avoid full throttles.

uncle, i really hoped for you to enclosed along the max charging power generated when the car is braking. for example, f30 330e max regen at 30+- KW. so no matter how hard you try to regen, the battery only will be charged at that rate when braking. just enough to power on system electronic when stationary at traffic. eco pro regen - starting from single digit KW, comfort regen - starting from single digit and can go further to max if depress the brake harder. sport mode regen - always maxxed out at 30KW whenever possible even without pressing the brake. and last but not least, lets do a challenge. 5 percent battery going up ramp/slope. which EV will succed, and which ev dont. must be very interesting to see how pathetic those people that overbragging how powerful their EV is than a certain supercars. just for fun tho :D
