Owner's BYD Dolphin Checked Out On Genting / We Used 32% Battery / YS Khong Driving

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

We got a chance to check out the newly launched BYD Dolphin on our favourite mountain, thanks to our strong supporter, Derek.
This is the higher spec variant with the extended battery, and we used up 32 percent of the battery for the climb.
As with all electric cars, the acceleration is great, and after a bit of getting to know the car better, it handled the corners quite well.

Given the traffic condition, this is considered very mild driving by uncle YS's standard. Yet, the uphill drive of about 20 km already used up 32% of the juice, which came up to >1% for every km traveled. In other words, with this kind of climb, the range of the car would fall far short of 100 km. There could be several factors contributing to this power-hungry behavior: the efficiency of the motors (drawing a lot of juice when they are working hard), the power management system (the software could not manage power well when the car was not being driven "normally"), the nature of lithium-ion battery (losing charge very fast when temperature of the battery gets excessively hot), weight of the 60 kwh battery itself (about 350 kg which is equivalent to weight of five adults). It would be interesting to see a comparison of different EVs and see how they stack up.

uncle, i really hoped for you to enclosed along the max charging power generated when the car is braking. for example, f30 330e max regen at 30+- KW. so no matter how hard you try to regen, the battery only will be charged at that rate when braking. just enough to power on system electronic when stationary at traffic. eco pro regen - starting from single digit KW, comfort regen - starting from single digit and can go further to max if depress the brake harder. sport mode regen - always maxxed out at 30KW whenever possible even without pressing the brake. and last but not least, lets do a challenge. 5 percent battery going up ramp/slope. which EV will succed, and which ev dont. must be very interesting to see how pathetic those people that overbragging how powerful their EV is than a certain supercars. just for fun tho :D
