Frozen door locks are my biggest complaint both about this generation and the way that Ford has chosen to address (or not address) this very common problem.

It's amazing how the more expensive trucks get, the less quality they are made with.

The best truck I've ever owned was a 2011 Toyota Tundra. At 250,000 km, I've put nothing but breaks and oli changes . Selling that and buying a 2020 f150 was my worst mistake... this thing is a money pit.

I bought a new 2018 3.5. This is all true. These trucks are fragile and not very dependable. Worst decision i ever made.

Cam phaser knock at startup (5000$ for replacement, including the timing belt). Catalytic converter issue at 115k miles (2300$). Leaking Oil pan at around 138k(1100$). Leaking water pump at 138k miles(900$). Tail light fogging up,replaced the bulb myself(15$). All done at the Ford dealership. I got to say, they did a great job fixing it. I still love the car, make sure you get some warranty to cover the repair cost, it's a fairly big vehicle and it's designed to fail after 100k miles. Regular oil change and other maintenance should help. And other typical maintenance stuff...

My local Ford dealer said that they could look at it. They couldn't get to it on the scheduled appointment. Then they said that their singular transmission tech was deployed with the military (mad thanks to troops). They said it would would be another 5 or 6 weeks to get another appointment at the Ford dealship, but recommended a top notch "other transmission shop. The "other shop" serviced the transmission and the transfer case, but couldn't fix the issue, but charged 2K. After that, the truck went back to the Ford dealership and sat there for two months. They tried to rebuild the transmission, then said that the rebuild didn't work. Ford then charged $11K to replace the transmission. Total cost $13,000. I have always had good luck with Ford, but this will certainly be my last Ford.

I have a 2015 F150 with 3.5 ecoboost and after 100k miles, that is when the problems start happening. It is hard to say if the dealership service center has any contribution to the problems, but every time I take it in for a simple oil change, it is right after I pick it up is when a new problem happens. I have been a loyal Ford owner for over 30 years, but I am now done with them. Their engineering is crap......plane and simple. Do not own a new Ford unless you just like to fork out thousands. What ever happen to reliability and quality? I foresee Ford motor company going bankrupt in the next two years. The vehicles are problematic just like AMC over 30 years ago.

My 2013 F-150 had a recall for a downshift so I had it done, 8 days later the truck downshifted from 65 mph to first gear and damaged my truck engine that had 83,000 miles on it and I got this truck new. Ford will not fix it and wanted $16,500 from me, that will not happen. No more Fords for me.

Yeah the ongoing cam phaser issue for decades is unacceptable. Clearly this is a purposeful design in the interest of planned obsolescence so as to steer you from the service dept to the sales dept.

All problems should echo to Ford engineering and quality management. Both are over paid jokes. Consumer confidence is sinking and sales will plummet as more consumers will demand action. I personally do not trust my local dealership anymore as I hear they have lost most of their experienced technicians and the amount of vehicles that require extensive maintenance on relatively newer f150 is ever growing. They expect you to trade your truck in and pick up a brand new that depreciate 40% it's purchase value.

Do not buy a Truck then because they all have issues like these Ram and GM both have their expensive issues. Buy an older truck and rebuild it and your better off or buy Toyota. Before they erupt over the new Tundra waste gate issues that was solved and they no longer have that issue. I will always take my chances with Toyota. Still the best option is to buy a good used older truck one of the bullet proof engines like the 4.9l Inline 6:P

The real problem? A generation of do-nothings that want to drive cool pickup trucks, but don't know how to change a tire. And they are the ones faux engineering everything now. A profitable cycle of money changing hands. Good for Automakers, bad for do-nothings and seniors. If young men now knew how to handle a wrench, they wouldn't be whining about the cost to be cool.

Okay Boomer. Thank your generation for ruining this country. Your generation is the one who has been running this country into the dirt because they don't care what it will be like for us once they croak. There are more and more boomers becoming homeless than any other generation. Hopefully that doesn't happen to you. If you had to start over from scratch with a thousand dollars in your pocket, move to a new town and not be able to use any previous contacts or work experience you would end up feeling the pain that a lot of younger Americans feel. I use my F150 every day as a tile contractor, to tow my boat/jet skis, and haul my motocross bikes etc so get off of your high horse. You're not the only one who uses your truck. I do all of my repairs and maintenance too so you’re not special buddy. I just got into an accident because a man born in 1928 pulled out in front of me from a side street trying to turn left across traffic. Take away your parents driver’s licenses if they are still around. In a few years give up your license please before you're like him and end up hurting someone else. Thanks!

No hate....it's not entirely their fault. If they were raised without a teacher, sometimes they never have a desire to do manly things. I must've been in a bad mood...I apologize.

I think it was the boomers who coined the planned obsolescence. Between that and the heavily outsourcing of manufacturing to foreigners in the 90s. Build them to last when you are the ones working on them. Then later years design them to fail to insure a pension and retirement.
