From Southern Ontario here and Habs fan. Thrilled for Beck that he won a Memorial Cup. On a personal level, Im even more thrilled that Saginaw knocked off London. As a Guelph Storm fan, it's in my DNA to despise the Knights. The only thing better than Saginaw beating the Knights yesterday, was the Storm eliminating the Knights in the OHL playoffs and then knocking them out at the Memorial Cup that THEY hosted in 2014. Congrats to Saginaw for winning the Cup. First American team to win the Memorial Cup.

Perry has been with 5 different franchises in the SCF - Anaheim, Dallas, Montreal, Tampa Bay, and now Edmonton. Hopefully he wins the SC this year with Edmonton.

The combine testing will be important for Lindstrom. For the other top 30 not a big issue

He did two strength tests, that’s it. Not much learned there I don’t think. The interview is where they’ll know if he’s the best fit if he’s available, which we’ll only find out if they draft him.

For the Habs its gotta be Demidov, Lindstrom, or Iginla in that order. If the first two are gone you take Iginla, If Demidov only is gone you take Lindstrom and if somehow none are gone by 5 Demidov has to be the pick. Side note: Iginla may be in a sense the safest pick because i think he would adapt to playing in Montreal the best as hes always probably felt pressure to fill his fathers shoes

There were a couple not looking too good moments for him in the Camp games last summer when one could've wondered "ooh is Owen's floor's gonna be enough ?" and now we're all marveling at what his ceiling might be.

(As for him being cut amongst the latest last summer, let's not forget Dvorak was out, Monahan was still taking it a bit cautious, Kapanen wasn't there... depth at center behind Suzuki & Dach was fairly limited)

Correct, he will play laval , get some minutes , get some face-offs.... Come Trade Deadline, he will be with the Habs... 3C who can play up and down the lineup... Winning teams have multiple good face-offs guys , it's even better if you can have 2 on the 2nd , 3rd lines... I am soooooo stoked for the upcoming year....

Beck as 4th line center to adapt to nhl challenge and move up in following years. The habs has Suzuki, Dach, and lets say Catton or Lindstrom, Becks strengths faceoffs, forchecking, etc is better suited to fourth line. With Carbeneau like talents he will add goals and penalty kill talents. Beck on a 4th line will add an offensive side to a strong defensive talent with Evans and Armia for the best 4th line advantage.

No other teams pick effects the Habs. It is what it is. They have a plan for all players on their list regarding the absent 4 picks in front of them in what ever order that occurs. Habs may take a D, or not LOL

11 days later ... Panthers 3 - Oilers 0. I'm not throwing stones as I also thought it would be a close series ... Bobrovsky is standing on his head and the Panthers are a much more balanced and physical team. As the age old saying goes ... offense wins games. defense wins championships.

Since no one will know what you mean by "unicorn" unless you explain it, why use it? This is the problem with hockey commentary today. Instead of using clear language to explain something, commentators use "clever" terms that you have to explain anyway. Given the involved definition, "unicorn" might be the dumbest one yet. And "green flag," though sort of self-explanatory, isn't much better. Others that drive me crazy include defencemen "activating," shooters "elevating," the "back end," "good looks," "bet on himself," "X factor," and "Swiss army knife." These terms aren't clever, they're just annoying. And it's not versus! It's "against"! Someone at some major sports outlet started this inane trend and everyone follows it. "Versus" goes between two nouns: like Montreal vs. Boston. Otherwise it's "against." He played well against Boston. Not versus.

@@DrewDekes Yes, I did see that, which is why I referred to the involved definition. But it just reinforces my point. If you need an explanation to use a term like that, then it's not helping to communicate something; it's actually doing the opposite. And unicorn doesn't even fit what he's describing. He might as well have used any random word. Another problem with terms that don't seem to be logical is that different people start using them but not necessarily to mean the same thing. The perfect example of this is "good look." What does it mean? A scoring chance? A good play? A play that looked good? I've heard it used a dozen different ways, so it really has no value. I do want to thank you for responding to me (as you did previously). Most would just ignore what I'm saying (I know that I vent on this subject a lot). I very much enjoy your videos, so if I do raise an issue with a term, it's not a criticism. And I LOVED the Owen Beck pick. I might have gone for him at 26, but it worked out. And I wanted Hutson, but I never dreamed we'd get him at 62. That's insane. Same way we got Caufield - bias against smaller guys. You can't have all small guys, but you also can't let talent like that go by.

@@spaceman3735 I realize it's a sportscast, and I very much enjoy this one. IL wasn't knocking it. But I feel the need to express some frustration with the direction the sportscasting world has been taking in recent years. I'm aware that most people will blow me off or tell me to relax, but I think this is worth saying. And I appreciate Drew listening. That's all I could ask.

I appreciate what your saying, and actually I happen to agree with a lot of it. They can be very generic, bland, over used terms that don’t give enough context. I’ll always listen to viewer comments within reason. I appreciate the fact that ANYONE watches the channel when they do. It’s one of my passions, and I’m always continuously grateful for the support/interaction about the content. I’d even be open to discussing your points in further detail on a Habsolutely podcast episode. I think it’s interesting what you’ve said. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Craig.
