Sitting here watching, and wishing I could jump in and help. I am 73, but no stranger to logs and a peavey. Sometimes a pole ax to give the hook a tap helps too when the wood is a bit punky. You really need your grapple though , or run a chain around your log and turn it with your bucket forks. You really start making money once you get the stock squared up though. Great job, both of you - keep ‘em coming!

That grapple is never leaving again. You said that a bunch of times. It does make the turning safer and easier. Gizmo was to be watching that side for you. Must have seen a mouse. I realize getting upset doesn't help. But I don't usually stop till I'm past that stage. I want it done so bad, but makes it worse in the end. By then my wife is upset, and God just shakes his head. Ya that was one heavy log I see ya have a support for your knee hope all is good and gets better soon I know how important ur knee is because I only have one leg and your knee really takes a lot of weight and can ware out if not taken care of I know I watch how r turn and twist not to injure it have a good one thanks for the videos

You can turn log with your tractor by wrapping a cable attached to a hook around the log. Hook the other end to the tractor forks or bucket positioned above the log and raise the bucket which in turn will rotate the log. Two wraps of cable around log will easily rotate even a giant log with little effort. Take a look at the manual winch turner on a Norwood manual mill to see how it works.

It all worked out, but it was a challenge.

Again Tony, as I watch you work your tush off on that big log, you bring a young strapping Lad and me being over 81 years old and not so strong, I wonder if I should get the log crank to help turn logs as I think you should do. I am selling my TK 1220 which is best made but too heavy for your Frontier competitor only because it has one or two things I like better. I love you and your fun talk and no rambling explanations of trivia what’s going on. I also love the way you and Tonya converse back and forth. God bless and keepum coming

So far, I have not hurt myself or someone else. I learn more every day.

I got the frontier loading ramps and winch system.. I use the winch to roll my log against the log rests..works very well on huge logs..I don't struggle at all..not to mention the box tube the winch is mounted on keeps the log from rolling to far and coming off the back side. also I put the system on before I release the log dog, it keeps the log from rolling back at me. I love the winch..makes it much safer to use..even with just one person.

@@TonysTractorAdventure it really is worth it, especially if you are working by yourself.. before this I would roll a log up and then cram a wedge under hoping it stays tight to my log rests... the winch you stand on the log rest side and pull it right up tight and then go lock in your log dogs..so much safer. I was just thinking. it may be cheaper to just get a 12 volt atv winch and make the frame up from scrap metal.. I wish I did..I think its expensive for what it is but it really helps. If I did it again I would build my own

The frontier really does a good job especially after the motor upgrade.Had no trouble with that big oak.Love y'all's videos,you got the camera stuff down to a art .can't wait for the next one.i get up as soon as I hear my phone on Sundays lol😂.God bless and much love from your neighbors in Chester co.

Ya need to get ya some chock blocks. HarborFreight has rubber blocks that work perfect for wedging logs. Been using them on my mills for years.

I brought my grapple back to the farm. The grapple is the way to go. I just pick the log up and turn it with the tractor. Much safer and easy.

make a wedge that slides on your cross bar to hold the log turning back on you....

Put a couple wraps with a strap around the log hook it on the fork & lift it will turn works good

Pull towards yourself on the other side, get leverage by standing up on the side of the mill track. Other dude I saw had no trouble rolling the biggest of logs with ease.

It is different in real life. There is a lot more physics going on than meets the eye.

Typical day around my place, no grapple and always moving logs with the forks. You just have to take your time.

On those big logs you could save some grief if you had a wedge or two to slide atop the bunks to keep the logs from rolling back.

I think I have said this before but get you some 2 foot sections of metal pipe that just fits over your backstops and turning a log is much easier. It rolls against the pipe.

I have commented that to several sites. 3 sections of 2 foot steel pipe that is sized to just slide over your log stops was the best thing I have ever added to my HM130MAX sawmill. Slide them over the log stops and instead of it trying to climb over the log stops it just slides. The other best thing I have done is to cut some perfect sized and planned white oak logs stops. I use them when I have squared off wood cutting pieces. If you accidentally hit one no loss of a blade. I made a bunch of them at one time. Still using my first 3 so far with no mistakes yet.

I would have liked to see you move that with the T25. I'm in the market for a larger tractor to move logs around the same size onto my sawmill and am having a hard time figuring out which one will do the job. If the T25 would do the job I'd like to get that as it's much easier to trailer it than a T394/474.

The T25 is rated for 1300 pounds on the loader. Use a log chart to get the weight of the log based on the species, length and diameter. There are a lot of variables. I use the T25 all the time on the sawmill, but the log must be right.

This saw can only cut 5 7/8" deep. We are in Henry County

Not always perfect. Sometimes, with oversized logs, it is darn near impossible to turn without help.

I wasn’t criticizing and I realized, because I hadn’t watched all of the video . I was just saying that instead of taking the chance of the log rolling off leave the long stops on there when turning . Changing them out was the “ little extra work “ came in .

I meant the tall stop doesn't always work perfectly with oversized logs. The trick is to never do this without the grapple.😁

how come you buy the winch and loading ramps for your Frontier? I have the OS 27 Frontier sawmill and have used winches and ramps before for other applications and taught 7th and 8th grade physics how use levers, ramps, dollies to move your work without hurting yourself. Oh, by the way, I don't have a large tractors only a X350 lawn tractor and winches, an old 50 year old block and tackle (5-1 ratio) 5 snatch block pullies, etc. along with the frontier loading ramp and winch. I am 79 years young. Hope this would help you.

I also love the teamwork and support you all give each other. By the way, the easiest way to fix the grapple problem is to have two grapples.
