That capacitor doesn't explode, because it is very likely not electrolytic, aka it's just two plates near to each other. This capacitor has MUCH less capacitance that an electrolytic one, but doesn't have polarity.

Well as an engineer, that thing is clearly overloaded you can see sparks in comutator between the brushes the rotors windings will fail when the heat up and burn the insulation.
