Olympic National Park wanted $300 to just apply, plus $50 a day and they’d pair you with a babysitter the entire time. Not all National Parks are quite as steep though. Some are free once you contact them and explain the video is not focused on the actual park, just the vehicle (Joshua Tree).

I watched a vidoe by RVMiles{ I think that was it) where he had sent a letter with what he was planning to use to 7 diffrent national parks (without the permit applacation) and got the same letter back from 6 of the 7 which said he didnt need a permit. so maybe they are getting a lot of feed back as you can take pictures with the same stuff with out the permit and you just flip a switch and now you can? hopefully it will clear itself up soon.

You’re right. Olympic wanted the $300 application fee, $50 an hour babysitter fee, and undisclosed location fees. When I asked what the location fees are, they ghosted me. About a third of the parks I emailed say no permit was required since the videoing is incidental to our visit, a third said a permit is required, and a third never responded.
