Overlanding From Bishop to Mammoth Mountain Area

In this video Goose & I escape the heat from Southern California & head up to the hills above Bishop to an elevation around 8,300'. We found a great campsite by doing some recon using Google Earth & Gaia GPS.
The next morning we packed up and explored the many trails located between Mammoth Mountain & June Lake. Our second night campsite was near Obsidian Dome.
On the way home I just couldn't resist the oppurtunity to do some fly fishing along the Upper Owens.
I hope everyone enjoys this video & are all healthy & safe!!!

    Leaving Monday for Mammoth, our favorite for 30 years. Your channel is my favorite for several reasons. One is you love the 395 corridor like we do. Two, you keep it real and three you live close by. I live in Redlands and all the places you go to we can go to so it makes it more fun and interesting. Keep up the awesome job!

    @@395jnky Thanks. I was checking out Hgwy 395 on Gaia and I do believe that there is a 4x4 route that could possibly be a Serious 4x4 Adventure that could run at least a week long adventure through a time portal of history. It could become a yearly adventure for quite a few Jeepsters. Like Easter Jeep Safari, The Arizona Peace Trail, etc. Take a Peak at it. The wife and I are headed for Moab for the Labor Day Safari hope to see ya there. Here's to ya 395 Junky...

    Hey Daniel, really like your videos keep them coming. I've been traveling up the 395 to Mammoth Lakes and Lee Vinning most of my life. Since following your channel I've hit most of the trails you've posted. From Monache meadows, Laurel lakes, Coyote flats and more, so thanks for that. I'm not a Jeep owner but have a 3rd gen Toyota 4runner with a RTT that does the job just fine. Thanks again for your great videos keep up the adventures for all to see. P.S. I have a female Rotty named Charlee as well. Hope to see you the on trail someday. Be safe. .

    the westside has some awesome stuff too! on the CencaBORL you will see all of it.. start at brown off 395 and return there 1100 miles later!. never taking the same road twice! i have the route map posted to view and dl gpx tracks.. check it out! it is similar to the bdr routes but in looped form instead of point to point. we have 400, 600, 950 and 1100 mile looped routes all in one 1100 mile route. the shorter loops use Hway 120 thru Yosemite as the connector. EPIC any way you slice it! and you can catch dinner along the way and im taking for 4, not the minnows you caught. :) at owens and the creeks just sayin.. im in the process of verifying the South 950 route. the North loops are incredible and take you from Mariposa to bishop and back thru mammoth and lee vinning... or you start at bishop and come over 120 and then its nearly 50/50 on/off or more.. not much hiway except thru yosemite.. but awesome stuff! i tried to post a pic of fish my son caught on first cast at place we camped at!!! it was a 3 lbs rainbow! biggest fish we ever caught... it was a campgounds but you could have open fires there.. and was right there... ill stop.. take alook.. ??? you might find something that sparks your interest. :) ive lived in this area for over 30 yrs.. worked in LA till 2014.. I verify the route in my 4runnerfor ADV bikes and overlanding 2 and 4 wheeled. just trying to share the STOKE!

    Same question I asked in your last video. You could be driving/stopping/camping on private property, lol the cows belong to someone. How do you know if you are or not tresspasing?

    Cattle are grazed on public land much of the time. Private property is required by law to be marked as such or you are not trespassing.

    Just out of curiosity whats the difference between overlanding and camping?

  • @395jnky

    @395jnky

    2 жыл бұрын

    Everyone has their own interpretation. To me, Overlanding is when you are actively moving from campsite to campsite exploring different areas...Camping on the other hand, in my opinion, is when you set up camp and stay there for multiple nights....To each his own. Happy Trails
