Our journey starts with a 1860 mile trek just to get to Newfoundland Canada. But first a border crossing into New Brunswick via the Deer island ferry. Our first night in Canada lands us at the Bay of Fundy. Next into Nova Scotia and our first epic Lobster Roll. Arriving in Sydney NS port to get on a 8 hr Atlantic Ferry going to Newfoundland.
Once in Newfoundland our real overland expedition can begin. We make our way up the west coast exploring the Long Island peninsula and small lobster villages. Next the Viking Trail, Great Northern Peninsula along beautiful shores, collapsed sea caves and barren landscapes. We camp at the furthest north Point Normans Cape. Next Lance Aux Meadows a viking village. Then to St. Anthony. Ending the day in Englee. A coastal fishing town that we camp above on a mountain lake.
Then we head off of the northern peninsula down to the abandoned town Round Harbor with our first humpback whale visitor. Landing on the cliffs overlooking the North Atlantic in the town of LaScie. We spend the afternoon watching humpback whales play in the bay. Followed by a visit to iconic Twillingate where a sickness may cut our trip short.
Next Newfoundlands largest offshore island, Fogo Island. After the ferry our first stop is the small town of Fogo. We visit an odd location The Fogo Island Inn. A remote 5 star hotel. We return to Fogo to camp at the Brimstone Head Park. Leaving Fogo we visit Cape Freels Beach. Then we head down to the beautiful island chain town of Newtown. We end our day on the island of Greensport with an afternoon of crazy weather. Our next day takes us through Terra Nova National Park where we find Mountain View’s, an extremely useful visitor center, showers and an aquatic touch tank. Our path then leads around the north rim of the Bonaviata peninsula. We check out the Cape Bonivista Lighthouse and Puffin Colony. Before heading to the Community Pasture full of wild roaming horses and the perfect breeding onedocking spot. Ending the day with two whales slapping the water with fins and tails for hours just off shore.
Exploring Elliston we find more Puffin and whale! Next we head to Trinity to one of the oldest blacksmith forges around! A few hr drive takes us to Dildo and a bay side camp spot. The next destination is the islands largest city, Saint Johns. Where we see Signal Hill, Cabot Tower and Jelly Bean Row. Then we become true Newfoundlanders by getting Screeched In at Trapper Johns. We end the day camped on a 600 foot high cliff north of St. John’s
The next day takes us as far East as you can go on the continent to Cape Spear. Then we wind our way down the coast through Ferryland and around to the South Avalon-Burin Oceanic Barrens. Where we end up at Cape Race Lighthouse. We do some trail riding before settling in a small cove full of seals. Our last day on the island takes us to Cape Pine (the furthest south you can drive) and then up to Castle Hill Fort before we Jump on our ferry in Argentia (MV Atlantic Vision) to head back home through Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. Great for RV

Newfoundlander here: Wow, what a great documentary! You showed locations that most tourists would never dream of visiting and you still hardly scratched the surface on the most amazing places. I’m originally from the Northern Peninsula and had the opportunity to work extensively over the Twillingate, Bonavista, Marystown, Corner Brook and St. John’s areas. Tourists, if you are thinking about visiting, I cannot stress how beautiful the Gros Morne/West coast area is, and my favourite was probably Bonavista/Port Rexton/Trinity areas where I had the absolute pleasure of working for 5 years. Newfoundland and Labrador is a hidden gem.

Best KZread Video I've ever seen of Newfoundland, seriously. I've watched many of Newfoundland, but this is the very best. I was born and raised in a small town (fishing village) in Green Bay area of the Island right on the ocean, my dad was a lobster fisherman, I fished with him for a couple of summers. Thank you for such a beautiful documentary of back home.

I was born in Newfoundland and left at the age of 6 when my parents moved us to Ontario. We visited regularly into my teens, but now haven't been back to The Rock for 40 years. However, the draw for a Newfoundlander to return to the bay never leaves your soul. This beautiful video has inspired me to make the pilgrimage to return to my roots. Thank you for this!

What a spectacular journey you had to Newfoundland. We as Canadians sometimes do not have the time or funds to be able to travel to some of the most beautiful places in our country. My husband has been to Newfoundland a few times as a truck driver, but he has never had the pleasure of seeing the back roads, side roads, mountains and wildlife that you captured in your video. Thank you for such a beautiful trip. I will never be able to see Newfoundland, but with your video I feel like I've seen a lot of the best places there. Can't wait to see your next adventure in a different part of Canada. We recently moved to New Brunswick and we are discovering our province when we can..looking forward to you next video from somewhere else in Canada.

We have recently (2021) retired and moved to Newfoundland and thoroughly enjoyed your incredible epic video documenting your expedition across our island, my wife is a Newfoundlander. Your drone footage and smooth narration made it an informative and entertaining watch. We have actually visited some of the places you visited but not the northern peninsula, Newtown or Fogo island. We were so impressed by the HD drone footage of the whales and icebergs, you clearly have to be a NatGeo professional. Thank you for taking the time and making the effort to produce such a fabulous video and we are pleased you enjoyed visiting the island. I must confess to having a little equipment envy - your vehicles and associated gear is state of the art. We look forward to seeing more of your videos. Keep on keeping on. I would love to see a 'making of' video of this journey :)

Absolutely outstanding. As a BC born lad, now living in Alberta, who has always had a deep love of the music and culture of Newfoundland, let me tell you that your magnificent documentary gave me chills at several points along the way, and I am absolutely putting Newfoundland on my bucket list. Someday I will drive across this gigantic country and make an expedition there. Cheers and thanks for a fantastic video!

@@OverlandPioneers If you get the chance, I definitely recommend a trip to the Rockies and BC, especially. British Columbia is absolutely astonishing, and with many times more forest roads than paved roads, it's an overlander's dream. Alberta has some outstanding trails and bush camping in the rockies area as well.

It made me so homesick and proud of where i came from. Just a side note. Your comment when your wife was sick in Twillingate. Notre Dame Bay Hospital in Twillingate has a 24hr ER. 5-10 min from where you were camping. You filmed the building with your drone. Didn't want people detured from visiting, thinking they needed a helicopter ride to nearest ER. Awesome video. Thank you.
