    It’s not that bad, just have to set backlash and gear mesh. I learned before KZread was available but now with KZread and all the tech articles it seems there’s a video or article for every application. It’s amazing to me that there are people out there that take the time to create guides to do things yourself. If you’re interested in trying it, I’d also suggest looking on ih8mud. There are a lot of tech articles there too.

    Bit of feedback.. keep the walk arounds coming! Good views and very informative. Also.. any chance of getting more "non conventional" overlanders, e.g. Rams, big chevs, Subarus etc. It may sound odd but Subaru deserves more credit and as far as big trucks go it's great seeing what they're capable of instead of the usual big rims rubberband tyres and this is all coming from an Aussie! 🇺🇸🇦🇺

    Nice clean rig. Nice to see some of our items from Australia on it haha ;) I like the idea of the front camera, that is something I could do with my 80 series, I already have a rear camera which is great for parking but also to see how close the car is behind me in traffic (some of these suckers are like inches from my bumper in heavy traffic and I'm like "get off my ass ffs!!" Great to see an old girl done up and running.

    My understanding is that a 80 rear axle is 5" inches wider then the stock 60 front axle. Did you narrow the 80 axle ? widen the front axle ? run spacers on the front ? I do understand why you put the 80 axle on the rear. Full float, Disc brakes, and the all important parking brake. an amazing rig. Thank you for sharing.

  • @youpers

    @youpers

  • @youpers

    @youpers

    2 жыл бұрын

    Thanks for the complements. The PSC hydro assist is great, you just need a ported steering box. Several companies out there offer it as a service but its honestly not too hard to do yourself if your so inclined. Then fabricate a bracket off the axle and clamp the other end to the tie rod. I used their 1.5x6 shaft. Hope that helps.

    I know I fit the stereotype, but honestly I just bought tools when I could afford them and taught myself in my parents driveway (when they were at work) on my first car when it blew a head gasket. Took me a couple tries but figured it out eventually. There's a huge support group in Overland Bound that would love to help you on your way to being mechanically capable. Just have to be willing to make mistakes and do things over again when you mess it up, at least thats how I leaned.

    Thanks for the appreciation! The setup is: LS based small block, flywheel with correct thickness for use with a early model SBC bellhousing and clutch, cause the AA ranger overdrive is meant for a pre LS SBC. After the ranger its just toyota H42 trans, and t case, also added 4:1 t case gears, they helped the crawl speed a lot! Hope that helps.
