OVERLAND TRACK. A Sandy Weather Adventure. Day 5. Kia Ora to Windy Ridge.
9.6kms today, leaving Kia Ora was tough, it's a really user friendly new hut, with great verandah for warming, drying, & socialising. Du Cane Hut was filled with an a sense of great history, over 100 years of travelers spirits.
Thru the Du Cane Gap to a vista of mountain ranges! Bert Nichols Hut was large, and cold. No Heater, mischievous mouses! The viewing platform was probably warmer than in the hut! haha! If the weather is good, tent it on the platforms. What a great view....
