Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

If you are going to do frequent water crossings, it's not enough to simply add a snorkel to your overland rig. You also need to prevent water from getting in to your differential and axel housing. In this video, I take you the ought the steps of installing elevated differential breathers to keep the water out when you are plunging in! Enjoy!

that's a nice set up. I used the stock breather plugs with just basic hosing that I ran up into my air intake with a t adapter between the front and rear with a single line into my intake. cheap. cost me like $25 for the rubber hose and the t. but that is awesome with the professional kit. thanks for the videos!

Older vid, but the hose can be removed if needed. These are so called sharkbite connectors. Take a wrench about the size of the hose and slide it down on the black plastic on the fitting until it clicks, then pull on the hose. It should come right out.

Great video!! Diff breathers are important, no doubt. I would say if you anticipate any water, get the extended breathers installed (not those cheap accordion style socks or balloons). However, in my experience, it really only becomes an issue if you're doing deep, cold, wide crossings. You need be in water long enough to cool the housing, and the air/gear oil inside enough to create the vacuum. Small streams puddles are not really an issue...At least for me anyway. But better safe than sorry. $70.00 -$100 is not a big price to pay for peace of mind. Still a good idea to check/change your diff oil after doing water crossings anyway, even with breathers installed.

I reckon those supplied push in fittings on the diff won't last long as the breather hose moves in the plastic part with up & down diff movement. I ended up using the original OEM hose barbs and slid 4" of nylon reinforced 1/4 hose over them then pushed the hard breather line into the hose, no worries now. With the gearbox breather on top of the gearbox I reamed out the end of the 1/4 hose to assist it going on to the breather barb and pushed the hard breather tube into the hose. I did notice too that when I pulled the original breathers off they all made a hissing noise as they sucked air into the diff & gearbox, even though the little top hat on the Toyota OEM breather was wobbling around they weren't breathing at all.

I would of cleaned the area with a small wire brush first before removing the hose and then used the WD40 before cracking it loose just as a little extra insurance and then clean around the base with a piece of folded cloth just to make sure, I think the other two holes are meant for the Gearbox and Transfer case, hope that helps.

I'm pretty sure those are the same style fittings we use on out airlines at work on our saws and other machinery, you can still remove the hose if you want. Push the hose down into the fitting then lift the plastic surround in your case the black ring, then plull on the hose and it should come straight out. A bit dubious about using that fitting on the diff as the hose pushes in and not over top of the valve as the or iginal does. It leaves a hollow around the hose although very slight, where water and dirt could sit and potentially slowly make it way into the diff.

afenimor1 differentials are the axles that are connected to your wheels, the shaft that sits between wheels. youll have one shaft front and one shaft back. a locker is simply an item you put in that shaft which locks it so both wheels spin in line. your transmission is completely separate, that is the thing that changes your vehicles gears. do a bit of research before buying anything and potentially loosing money.
