I was STRUGGLING with my overhand this last month. There was one day where not even 1 ball passed to the other side. You come in handy Koko!

UPDATE: Now I can go a whole practice day only missing a couple times. I'm now aiming to do more powerful serves and chosing where to send the ball, not only get it over the net.

Yes it’s embarrassing that I can’t get the ball over the net not even 1
The steps I always keep in my head when serving. 1. Get in form 2. Weight on your back foot 3. Hold ball shoulder width w/ your serving arm 4. Bow in arrow back with your serving arm 5. Toss the volleyball right in frount of your serving hand 6. Step through w/ your back foot

Hey Koko, i’m a sophomore who started being really interested in volleyball a couple months ago and started playing by myself all the time and did a camp this summer and tomorrow i’m officially trying out for my schools team for the first time and the one thing i can’t seem to get down is my serve and i think this video helped me tremendously along with a lot of your other videos:)

thank you for these drills! our coaches in camp started making us do these awhile ago and I was struggling on being consistent with my tosses. I'll give them a try once I've fully rested.
I JUST actually joined volleyball this year for the first time, I’ve had some experience (a little bit since I was 8) but I am struggling with my overhand serve but I am just 💯 perfect on my underhand, this helped me a lot, Thank you. I am going to watch more of your videos for advice 👍
This helps me a lot since I'm trying to make not only my volleyball year amazing again but be able to let others experience that win with me too
Koko as a beginner at volleyball (having been told all kinds of things) your videos really helped me out to practice. No insane equipment, no complicated techniques or tricks, just simple pure practice to start with. Thank you for sharing all of your knowledge about volleyball with us.❤❤
I’m not a beginner so a lot of tutorials do not come in handy but this…. This just give clear instructions and I feel like this advice will come handy in my future volleyball games!! Thank you!! ❤️❤️

Hi koko thanks for help me how to serve i really love your content and your vlog you are best teacher in volleyball 😊😊😊
I remember I watched the video on how to overhand serve and I did it so much, got so good I learned jump serving, became the best server on my team, and as a bonus I became the libero of a 15 Smack team.
Tysm! I love your channel. New subscriber!
I’ve been struggling with my overhand, spring season I could serve over the net easily, but now that fall season started they barely ever go over, so thank you
I NEEDED THIS THX SM
I was in the volleyball team last year and I’ve been trying to overhand serve for a long time. No matter how much j try I’ve never been able to do it, so i hope this video helps me out!
KOKO!!! I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO DO AN OVERHAND SERVE AGAHAH IM SO HAPPY (as you can probably tell lol) TYSM FOR THIS VIDEO
Hi I love volleyball and I start tomorrow so your video helped me practice
HELPED A LOT TYYYY
Something my coach pointed out (in my first year of volleyball) that I had to do was have my hitting arm in the air BEFORE I throw up the toss. I just wanted to say that in case it wasn't clear to anyone!
I love the sting from the slap, it lets me know i did a good job
Good tips, I think the toss is often not stressed enough as its absolutely crucial for young players, but missing anything about feet. Some of the biggest problems I see with young players are starting with shoulders facing the net which leaves only a weak arm swing for power, stepping with the wrong foot forward which again means no power as hips and shoulders are already rotated, or if they do set up with the correct foot back stepping through with that foot which rotates hips and shoulders early killing power and making for inconsistent contact. I try to get them to push forward maintaining upper body posture with the hitting elbow up and back until they are swinging, pinning the toes of the back foot to the ground until contact, which keeps hips and shoulders open while starting forward and able to be part of power generation. Power starts at the foot pushing into the floor, way too many miss out on using all the big muscles on the way up and just try to hit it with arm only. Keep good tips coming, love to see young players improve! 👍
my overhand serves where good but never consistent and after i did this i kept doing so good so thank you so much !!
My first time trying out for any sport as a senior so I’m excited and nervous because I’ve never played before! Let’s see how this goes!
great stuff
thank you so much this video was extremely helpful! I’ve been struggling getting my serves high enough and this also made my servers more powerful
this will help me practice more so if i do make the team I can be more consistent while serving :)

Is there a way you can make a short video/KZread short on how you foot position should be when you over hand serve? Btw I love the video btw

THANK YOU SOO MUCH!!!! my first game is in 2 days and i still cant serve over the net!! i play for middle school volleyball and the net is 6ft tall and i'm one of the few girls who still can't get my served over the net. thank you!!!
I’m good at overhand, but my form could be better. This is so helpful ❤
This helps
I already know how to do proper overhand serves but it's nice to get a refresher once in a while😊 Edit: i can already jump serve but this is still good because my jump serve is not as accurate as this yet
I personally struggle with overhand serving and I’ve been playing for 4 years ( I’m 13 ) so when I have to overhand serve I like to add a little jump to make sure it gets over because I know I have the strength.
My daughter could never serve over the net but now she can thanks😊
can you do a tutorial for a jump serve?
A tip my coach told me was that before you serve, always check the height of your elbow. She said one of her girls would always look behind her to make sure her serving hand was raised before she swung.
All these tips are so helpful and helped me get my serve but I feel like something that some don’t understand is your arm’s position hitting the ball. If you find your arm coming from off the side and spinning while in the air, you aren’t hitting it right. Always picture the ball as a high-five. Your arm should be right over your shoulder when you hit the ball. It’ll help the ball go straighter and help following through!
I made my junior high volleyball team, but I am one of the only ones who takes underhand serves because my overhand serves only go over the net once in a few tries, luckily our first game is in like 2 weeks so I plenty of time to practice
ty for this koko!! I'm a setter on my schools team, which means I'm on a LOT of the time. Sadly, my coach has to sub me out when its my turn to serve, because I simply can't get my serve to go far enough. I'd really like to learn to get my overhand serve over the net, so that I don't have to be subbed out when its my turn to serve. I really like playing backrow, so I hope I get to more if I learn it. thanks!

You'll get it! I have the same problem 😭 it never goes far enough but i know it's because my hand placement's wrong but i can't get it right. But anyways, any luck serving over the net?
tysm
Can you talk about jump floating and jump spinning serves?
I have this weird problem when I overhand serve. I do this thing where my hand like wiggles backwards then forwards, it messes up my serve, but it’s a habit and I can’t stop doing it even when I try! Luckily it’s starting to go away.
One thing that was an issue for me was where I faced when I served. If you face more towards on direction, its most likely gonna go that way. Also, making sure to not swing across your body, straight swing is best!
i am STRUGGLING with overhand serving, I’m gonna keep trying to do these hopefully I’ll make the team!!

A method I use it’s to put my hand next to my ear, it kind of looks like your ninja about karate chop stuff lol, but if you swing around faster for me I was poor power into my serves.
My serves are a 60 40 chance. I toss the ball high because I jump and I keep my hand firm until contact and my height of my jump helps get it across but 🤷♀️

Hi Koko! Everyone I have watched has bounced it before they served it. I was just wondering if we have to do that when we serve?🏐
@kitoriixo
2 жыл бұрын
you dont need to bounce it. the reason people do it is to figure out where the ball should hit their hand when they serve it. if it helps you, go for it! if not, dont worry about it 💕🏐
But how do you fix your timing on when to hit it?
@AnanyaShah43
2 жыл бұрын
It should be a little higher above arm length when you hit it
how to i get my stance right?
Is the ball hard?

Do you have camps
Hey Koko! I was wondering what do I do if I wanna practice at home? My sister says "If you want a volleyball you have to pay for it. It's not like ur on a team or something." It's true I'm not on a team but I have a passion for volleyball and I really wanna get good at it but, I don't have a volleyball at home. The only times I practice is during pe or brunch and lunch the thing is that, that's at school. I don't have enough money to buy a volleyball either. So, do you know something I could do?
