Overcoming Overthinking

Overthinking can be a problem for many who struggle with anxiety, OCD, depression or other mental health struggles. It can be easy to fall into the trap of overthinking, as we can believe that by overanalyzing or ruminating over something, somehow we may be able to solve the issue. But in fact, overthinking becomes a trap that keeps us bound in chronic cycles.
In this broadcast, I want to bring out why overthinking is harmful and how we can begin walking in greater healing. Whether you struggle with overthinking on a regular basis or just occasionally find yourself getting caught up in your own thoughts, this video has something for you.

    1. Become aware of how overthinking is stealing your peace. 2. Start taking steps 3. Change your relationship with fear. 4. Starve the constant self-analysis 5. Slow down and take moments to practice stillness

Dr Martin Lloyd Jones calls this Morbid Scrupulosity. He says the same thing. Instead of just staring at yourself just go serve someone else. I struggle with this. And I noticed I do talk a lot and and not a lot of action or maybe I do start something but end up stopping. My issue is overwhelming intrusive thoughts and emotions.

This hit the nail on the head again! It’s so true that I believe if I just get to the bottom of the situation I’ll have the peace and joy. But it never happens that way. Something else always comes up and it’s a new thing to overthink and obsess about.

Yes, but overthinkers take that scripture and begin to rebuke all thoughts on subjects that disturb them until they are bound in fear, instead of dismissing the thoughts. In a sense, it completely backfires on them.
