I really like what you’re doing with horses. Do you have a book? If not you should write one. I’m learning a lot. I appreciate your ideas. Seems like common sense to me. Thanks.

Could you possibly make a video about how to desensitize a horse to traffic? I have one paddock that is right next to a gravel road with noisy cattle trucks going past when I'm leading my horse, I wont ride in this paddock, horse is fine with cars and motorbikes

Always remember, horses are afraid of only two things. Things that move, and things that don't move 😉

That goes right along with there only being two kinds of horses. The ones that are hurt and the ones that are about to get hurt. 😂

I once spent ages trying to encourage one of our horses to walk under a big gum tree. He eventually streaked through the difficult spot just before a branch big enough to crush a truck creaked, cracked explosively and fell where we had just been. I should have listened (but he was a very wimpy horse)

When I take my mare out for a trail ride near the ranch I have an almost identical situation where she sees some heavy trees that she doesn't like to go near. I'll give this technique a try to see how she does with it. Thx for sharing 🐎

Ooh this is a good one. I have a scary fence line that boarders the neighbors and I’ve been doing the ‘got to’ and holding her over with my inside leg. I’m going to give this ‘get to’ a go. Thanks!

Dogs and horses hear and understand everything you say, but they don't let on that they do (they have their reasons); horses more than dogs but not cats. When Ryan is doing all that talking at the start notice how the horse is listening and taking it all in and keeping a poker face. 😃😄😊😇☺🤑👍👍👍🐴🦄🐤🦆🦜🍉🥨🍞🥞🧀🍗🍟🍕🥪🍜🍧🍦🥡🍪🍰🥧🧁

Loved this video, however, you need to demonstrate it on a horse that is truly afraid. It appears you could just put an inside leg on your horse and hold him there. Let's see it on a horse jumping sideways or spinning away

What i do is i make my horse face what they are spooking from and have them stand tgere till she calms down, then i ask her to step forward and if she still refuses i pat her and let her go around it because yeah she didn't do exactly what you asked but she faced hee fear amd stood there, and if she does take a step i congradulate her and let her move on a different way

That works if they’re not to scared of what your asking them to face. If they’re very scared then it cause they to panic more.

I was noticing the foreleg action too, only because I lease a mare to use for my lesson program who walks just like this. She is a retired working cow horse and is super athletic, so I’m not thinking it is much of a problem.
