I like the calm and clear way you train. You are proof that roughness isn’t necessary.

She is very lucky to have you as her trainer. Your patience and kindness is what every horse deserves. Thank you for sharing your videos .
Skittles is her colorful energy, personality.
I love watching her changes. The art of a horseman that knows what the horse needs!! I do like this mare. Hand grazing is a nice way to give her a reward! “ What’s in it for me?” 😆
Skittles is a great name. I really like the name Flame for a red mare--comes from a book I read as a kid--but that's probably asking for trouble! Thank you for showing us how you work with a reactive horse. I have one myself, and it's taken a lot of patience for her to come around, but it was totally worth it!

Skittles is trying so hard and I am glad she has a happy home with you. Hope you keep posting videos on her progress.
Skittles is the perfect name for her. You have done an amazing job with this filly that was so let down by her breeder/former owners. I think she too will make a great horse under your training. She's come a long way in a short time. I feel I was really blessed raising my 3 foals from birth till death that they were never reactive or explosive. It all comes down to the handling and teaching. Keep up the good work. I guess I was really their leader and they trusted me. Lost my last horse at age 25 last November. My horses were pig , semi, hiway, farm equipment, vehicle, train proof. I am afraid I will never have that again now that I am older - closer to 70 than 17 !
Love your calm presence and perspective! Skittles is very fortunate to have the opportunity to learn from you.
She's a cute little filly. Seems to be understanding and accepting the ideas you are giving her.
Love your videos, I also follow a guy in Wales Steve Young he has the natural horsemanship that you have.He spent a few years in the US learning the craft,he rides western style,he has a lovely way with his horses. Me well always loved horses mom didn’t would have loved more than anything to have a career with horses nothing makes me happier than being round horses, envy people like you and Steve who have made their life with horses a career. Keep up the good work you do. Lovely young filly, like the name Skittles.
With relatively little time and effort such a tremendous progress. Another RR W O W film.

Skittles because she's skittish. Her reaction to the ball was amusing. Love seeing the progress.

I notice how everyone likes Skittles as her name because she appears to be skittish. I actually think she is going to mature into a confidant horse. What the skittish behaviour right now is telling us is that she has either not been handled or has been mishandled up to this point. She is learning what competent handling & training feels like & it seems as if she likes what is happening. I would not name her Skittles because I believe there is a speciic energy attached to a name. Since I would not want her to become a horse who is skittish for the rest of her life I would choose a name that allows her to leave the skittishness behind once she is no longer feeling as if she has to constantly be so defended.

A really beautiful video! My 3 year old grandson got so excited at the end of the video, I had "Bye Hoss!" shouted in my ear.
That progress was amazing. You have a real understanding of the equine brain. She's gonna be real nice. A horse like her may not turn out well in the wrong hands.

REMARKABLE! As someone that has never been around horses, I'm astonished at what you achieved in such a short space of time.
She seems lovely. I’m a 64 year old grandmother and it would take me a lot of practice not to flinch when I see an object coming toward me ❤️
This video was great to see how she was ready to pick up her feet after you used the ropes. She really is a neat little filly.
Skittles became very comfortable and friendly with you after her training sessions.
You and Skittles really did a nice job of working together so she can have a good life. It was really interesting to see her make such progress in trusting a human!
She is adorable. I would love to follow her progress.
Thank you for sharing the videos of training Skittles. I don’t have horses yet, but I watch and replay your videos, they are helpful. I love how patient and calm you stay with each horse and you share that each horse is different, an individual, which they are! You take some of the mystery out of horse behavior. I find all the training and help you give people fascinating ! 😲🤔❤️

She is also very young. I’m quite amazed that people ride very young horses whose bones havent even set. Because she is so young she reminds me of young people who just need time to use their reasoning which for a horse whose neocortex is nowhere near our size, this is hard for her. Mr rose is doing really well but she may just have needed a slower process. Some are more confident and also some are not so intelligent. I also think that doing things they like and becoming their friend like taking them for walks, foraging as you go, and showing them things and…laughing , that really helps.

Ryan knows horses as does his wife. I guarantee they won't ride her until she and her body are ready.
Forty years ago we dumped a young horse misbehaving for shoeing down using ropes around the neck area. After some work on Toto’s feet in the down position, he was allowed to stand up. He cooperated with the shoer after that and the rest of his life.
You're a great teacher, Ryan. Name suggestion: Ember
Go with skittles, that’s a good name.
Love the name Skittles. My daughter has a dwarf hamster named Skittle! 😂
She seems to know you’re not gonna hurt her, she’s thinking!
Sorry for 2 comments: She profiles nicely! Also, I think she'll be a powerhouse.❤ My son rode a Gunsmoke mare. Super fast, intelligent, and instinctive. You would think she was spooky til you rode her. She had team penning points. She reminds me of her (her name was Razz if you'd like to borrow her name❤) Here's what is interesting: child horse deluxe! Sadly, she passed at age 30❤ Grand daughter of Mr. Gunsmoke.
Love her name Skittles ❤️ She's good looking and settling down nicely. Really good video👍

Sable is lovely. She is going to leave her skittishness behind - sometimes names can brand an animal making it difficult for them to be seen in another light. Like naming a dog Cujo or Diablo. The name can become prophetic.
I don't have a horse but I'm hooked on watching you teach humans and horses. I am a teacher by trade so I can appreciate your style. ❤

She‘s going to be a star for someone who gets her on their side. She‘s one of those that needs to be convinced of who is the leader - and you cannot lie to her!
I wish everyone prepped their horse for the farrier like this!
What a brave little horse. I bet you she would fit right in to the police force. She has the right mind and bravery. Not saying she should, just would. She has the best leader. Thank you for sharing, this was really great to watch!
She's doing so good. She's trying hard.

8:18 😍 She's gorgeous, and I love the name Skittles. It definitely suits her since she is so skittish. EDIT: By the way, will there by any chance be any more about Willow? I watched Parts 1 and 2, but never saw more. Would love to see how that beautiful girl is doing now. Thank you for sharing these wonderful videos. I enjoy them so much!
I’m sure you hear this a lot, but you are a truly incredible trainer. Thanks for the video!
This is so good! Ryan you have really been blessed with a unique ability! So interesting with her seeming so spooky but being left brained. That tarp and ball really proved it to me. Not spooked a bit. Very enlightening the difference between “I can’t” and “ I want”. You sure are touching alot horses by teaching all us horse owners these subtle things!!
Very interesting video.Super reactive but also left brain.Big difference in her attitude, willingness to try after you worked on the leadership. I really took to this filly, maybe because most of the young horses i've had in my life have been pretty Left brain and quite opinionated. I think I have learned more from theLBs as I have had to be a lot more creative and have a sense of humour and no ego!!! Do make some more vids with Skittles! We love her!
I’ve got a horse that has a personality just like this one. They can be quite the challenge to work with
What she did with that ball made me laugh out loud. What a goofball she is! 😄
😅 I laughed so hard when tried to lay on the ball. Wonder what she thought was going to happen. Skittles is a perfect name
The name skittles is really pretty. For a chestnut mare I’ve always loved the name Kessler.
She is a real beauty. Nice smaller horse for a woman. She's doing great. She deserves a more regal name. Make sure she has a home that loves her.
Bless her heart, she's a lovely little miss! ❤

She has a softer look in her face and eyes now. I love the progress with her feet. Definitely a smart girl. You can also see that she’s moving her ears while you’re talking. ❤️
Natural born boss mare in the making. I'll bet she'll try to be the leader of the herd when turned out, or at least will challenge the existing boss horse of the group for that role. She has lots of self-confidence, just not much life experience yet. Some risk of injury there.

Oh I love skittles she wonderful and so pretty. You are amazing Ryan. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼❤️Granny B
I'll probably never ride a horse again due to spinal issues, but for some reason I find these videos fascinating, probably because training a horse is so different from training other animals. It seems a healthy dose of negative reinforcement (removing something negative) is needed to make horses truly comfortable with humans. It seems counterintuitive. Maybe that's why some people label horses as stupid. It's not the horses' fault when humans can't figure out to communicate effectively. I think I'm finally beginning to understand these beautiful creatures. Too bad I'll probably never ride again. This info would have been very welcome when I was young!
To funny how she rolled onto the ball. Makes me think she is really playful. I agree with all the other comments that her name is perfect. Such a fun name for a fun horse.
Great job, thanks for sharing!!
Love watching her progress. This is a HUGE help for me with my young horse. I'm finally making some progress after watching these videos on untrained horses. I realise it's me that needs to learn how to train him more than him learning at his stage. But anyway, we're finally getting somewhere, thanks Ryan.
You (the editing) make it look so easy. I think you should name her "Liberty".
Skittles is cute, but I think she needs a strong leader name - like Pandra (Fiery dragon) ha!
