I love how Victoria works with children. She doesn’t talk down to them or shame them. She gets them to think about how the dog is feeling.

Yes and with adults as well, possibly because many of the adults on this show are like children.
2 walks for 30 minutes aren't too much to ask when you have a big family on top of it. We are 2 people & our dog walks 3 x a day. All together it's about 2 1/2 hours. We take him everywhere with us, so he has new adventures all the time. Dogs aren't for couch potatoes. Walking, running & sniffing is so important to them.

I see where ya gettin' at, but there are dogs who are fit for couch potatoes. Dogs have different personalities just like people, so finding the right dog for a low-energy person isn't hard either. The basic needs for dogs should always be considered, though. Walks, exercise, and stimulation are what keep *all* dogs happy. 🐶 🦴 💕

I have a 12 yr old lab and 7 yr old malinois, my lab is a couch potato. I give my dogs 3 walks a day lab gets three 15 mins walks, malinois gets 3 20-30 min walks. We r not a EXTREMELY active family but my pups get ALOT of attention, needed exercise, and malinois gets another 3-4 fetching games a day for 10-15 mins. English Bulldogs cannot handle 2 1/2 3 hr a day of exercise, smaller breeds cannot handle ALOT of exercise for long periods. Different dogs/breeds have different needs due to age, personality, breed, health, etc.. I know, based on my experience with my pups that different dogs have different needs exercise included.

It depends on the dog to be honest, some dogs love to have adventure and go out and about, some only need a 20-30 minute walk twice a day and are good some need a couple hours a day just depends on the dog but keeping them entertained is the best thing! You can get toys that are stimulating mentally and it can help with their energy as well. :)

The poem/story they came up with for Daisy and Cookie Dough was incredibly cute lol. "Before you knock Grab some treats and one of the toys. Knock on the door And wait until I stop the noise. When you come in Throw treats on the ground. Do not pet or stare at Daisy She's one nervous hound. If Cookie jumps up Please turn your back. She'll nerver learn Unless we keep her on track. Sit on the sofa And throw Daisy a toy. It's her favourite thing And will bring her joy. Ignore the dogs And enjoy the fun. Thank you for coming Your job is done!"

Try reaching out to local animal shelters about volunteer work. It's very rewarding and a great learning experience ! Almost like practicing the responsibilities of pet ownership :)
I read the story on what happened with Casper after the show... Seems like the guy never followed though with the training or the neutering and the dog attacked someone. Thankfully the person wasn’t severely hurt and that seems to be the reason the dog’s life was spared. However the judge labeled Casper as dangerous so he had to be contained in an animal shelter for 6 months and the guy was facing up to £80,000 fines. At the end it seems like Casper was released to his irresponsible owner (unfortunately), and the judge ordered that he should be neutered, visit a certified dog behaviourist and not go in public without a muzzle. Such a shame

The dog should have been neutered while in confinement at the shelter. His owner should not have gotten him back until the fines were paid, and the dog already fixed. Actually, the owner should not have gotten him back at all. This kid who was the owner had a horrible attitude and should not own any animals at all. They had a cavalier spaniel also, and that was OK, I guess. I felt sorry for that little dog. (Jan Griffiths).

Like with the Doberman episode my sister was moved out of the house when I was little and she had a great dane. She was pretty timid of people and liked to jump and a big grumbling dog was scary to little kids so we always entered the house with treats. The treats for later were placed in our pockets as well (the dog was not food aggressive) and it helped keep her head out of our face where she would sniff the pockets.

I've never understood how owners that acknowledge their dog is choking in a collar just won't use a harness?? They're all like "Oh it's so awful, you can hear she's choking!" Like, train your dog first of all, but why not solve that problem? Hell, if you're worried about control, you can use both!!
@nixon742
2 жыл бұрын
because harnesses can cause the dog to pulll more, harnesses are meant for well trained or service dogs usually as they dont try and tug on the leash or chase ppl, animals, cars, etc etc. putting ur dog on a harness will not only help it breath while pulling hard , if it can breath while tugging then it will continue to tug and tug because there is no consequences. this is why owners prefer using collars on puppys while training
@KaregoAt
2 жыл бұрын
@Angry Combat Wombat You'd think that they figure it out, but I know of a family friend's dog who the vet had to recommend/command to either go to a trainer or switch to a harness because the pulling had already damaged his throat, and this was an 8 year old dog.

When I first got my dog I had already bought a harness, so when I realized she was choking with the collar I was able to switch her away right away. Now we have a freedom harness for her and it’s much more manageable, though she’s still got leash manners to learn!

I love watching this show. I binged watched this show prior to getting my dog. It really prepared me. I knew the signs to look for between a good breeder and a backyard breeder. The breeder allowed me to come to her house, meet the puppies’ parents, and was able to see the environment they were in. They also gave me the dog already dewormed, and with the first set of vaccines . I tried getting my husband to watch this show because he was gonna get a dog as well. He refused to. Needless to say, he got a dog from a backyard breeder. He eventually had to rehome his dog because she ended up having behavior problems and constantly bit my youngest son. I told him if he watched the show, it could help him deal with his dog but he just refused. My dog feels lonely without my husband’s dog. I guess in time, I’ll get her a brother/sister that’s gonna be a good match for the whole household.

As kids, my brother and I wanted a dog. My mum did something very clever : one of my aunts had a dachshund, a quite friendly dog. We had him for 3 weeks in the summertime and were asked to walk him 2 times a day. After those 3 weeks, we didn't want a dog anymore : too much work, even if the doggie was nice. I am so lucky, my previous dog Eddie died after 17 years of being by my side, it broke my heart but then after a couple of months a beautiful 5 year old Jack Russel female who a neighbour rescued came to stay. She's amazing I've had dogs all my life (I'm 70) but none were so loyal and obedient as she. We can't use a leash as I'm in a mobility scooter so she either rides with me or walks by my side. She's just perfect and she's my defender no one gets close to me without a growl or a snarl from her. Her name is Angel and that's what she is to me. People ask if she bites and my reply is, "not yet." so they leave us alone.
The family with Rocky argueing over who will walk him, I walk my dog for a minimum of 1 hour a day on my own (He's a german spitz mittel) and he gets 2 weekly hikes of 2+ hours. If I can do all that on my own I'm sure a whole damn family can do it between them!!!!!
Watching this while snuggling with my dog. I'm a first time dog owner and always worried if I'm doing everything right. This definitely makes me feel like I'm doing a good job.
The doggie Kung fun at 54:32 is TOOOO FUNNY I literally cried from laughing 😂😂😂💀😂😂💀😂😂
When I was like 5 or 6, I had to stay at a friend's house for a while after school sometimes, before my parents could pick me up. They owned a huge Doberman. I'd go down for a nap, and the dog would sit there and stare at me. Maybe it was being protective, but it scared the heck out of me. I'd just cry.
That little boy is so adorable and intelligent. He has such a caring heart.
Most people don't care about animals they are for entertainment and people are too self-resolved to see that that animal is not wrong it's them. This gives me some hope that these people haven't taken the easy route (I am sure a lot of them off-camera wish they did) but it's progress in the pet owner world. I love animals so much they are my whole soul and wish more people could think like that.
Victoria, you are a gift to dogs! Teaching humans how to train dogs humanely is so awesome ! So many clueless folks who love and adopt dogs with good intentions but fail terribly in training them. By the way, we have a rescue Doberman. Our 2nd Doberman, our 5th dog since 1994, ALL ADULT RESCUE dogs. Luckily my husband and I are pretty good dog trainers. We still learn a lot from Cesar and Victoria. You are both wonderful! It's funny watching this, our spoiled rotten red Dobe Penny Lane is laying in bed with us...tucked in the covers (seriously, Dobes love being tucked in). BAHAHAHAAA!
Nyla and Elle made me CRY that was absolutely AMAZING!
Too many people forget dogs are animals and treat them like human babies, then blame the dogs for inappropriate behaviors. I think it would help if people educate themselves to learn about dog psychology and physical needs BEFORE adopting. Alpha role and responsibilities are more challenging than I expected but effective. Please remember being an alpha is a serious commitment for the entire duration of dog's life. Wishing everyone beautiful relationship with your dogs!

Ikr! Breeders and dog shelters should have like classes about taking care of dogs and dog psychology and make sure that the potential owner qualifies!
Has anyone realised that with every single one of these is just about the owners?

Only started watching less than a week ago I am so shocked & love this programme & love your training techniques 🦚🦋🧜🏻♂️💠💎💙🐟
What a great little boy. God bless him.
Merry woofmas everyone ❤️🤗🤗🤗
I love the one hour version and looking back on all these dogs, maybe another one at the end of this year? :D
Casper, as of 2020, was not put down. I think Eric’s resistance to neutering Casper had little to do with breeding, and much more to do with Eric’s fear of being castrated.

Probably.. a lot of men on this show are like that for some reason.
What a wonderful articulate lil boy. Lovely family
so happy for Eric and Casper...as I have a staffy myself I can understand how beautiful, loyal and great companuan these animals can be if properly trainned.
Can we apply Daisys method to kids...every time and adult comes over they dont know its treats and a toy 😂😂😂 kids would love it
One thing I love about Victoria is that she doesnt ever verbally say, "No, be quiet." or anything like that. The only words that come out of her mouth are good ones, she'll say, "Good boy," or "Good girl" so all the dogs hear is praise. 🐶🐕🐩😁

She says AH AH . Haha she literally said it right after I typed that lmao
I love your work Victoria and I've been taking my dogs on lot's more walk and been showing my dogs some new tricks. You are so great at what you do and i inspire to be like you.
God, the bitey dog scared me so much. I would be terrified for my life. That husband was delusional
Ms.Victoria has an excellent way of training dogs mis behaviour, at the same time developing and inculcating everyone's responsibility, task for every member of the family.👍👏💖
Everyone Who dislikes this is a backyard breeder or a Puppy mill breeder 😂😂😂
