Over $76,000 spent on restoring Gyeongbok Palace wall damaged by graffiti
The cost of repairing the walls of Gyeongbok Palace, which were vandalized twice with spray paint last December, is estimated to exceed 100 million won.
The Cultural Heritage Administration (CHA) announced on Jan. 4 that it has now finished graffiti removal and emergency conservation treatment of the wall around Yeongchu Gate and the side gate of the National Palace Museum of Korea.
This concludes 19 days of work since setting up protective screens on Dec. 16.
Specialists from the National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage and the National Palace Museum of Korea utilized chemical methods as well as physical methods such as steam and laser cleaning to remove traces of red and blue spraypaint.
An official from the CHA said, "Due to the winter season and the condition of the stone, the work was focused on emergency restoration to remove the contaminants and the current progress rate is at about 80%."

😢that’s so sad I hope that they don’t do that again is a very important monument of history in Korea
They need to setup some sort of security system putting up cctv, and guards patrolling 24 hours

That's way too much money. How about building a society that instills respect and nationalism in people. Country has gone down hill as it slowly keeps letting western ideologies and foreigners in. These things rotts nationalism.
