I'm told by all of my friends from Illinois to Nashville that " We Live Prepared ?" Couldn't have prepared for THIS one though... So sad; Of course condolences to those facing this loss. I wondered if Mayfield was near a little town where Jim Varney's manager was from, " Depoy, " Kentucky. BTW ABC Mickey Mouse Manipulated Media; Please tell your HOSTS, that "Tornado's " don't " OUTBREAK!" Being from Illinois, I remember them " dipping and diving and SWEEPING" through as if they are big noisy hands, SHOVING wherever they go. Somehow these beautiful states end up paying for it later? ! Why don't we track these PATHS and make it illegal to live there and move all these people to SAFE STATES . There are "safer" states, and you can't blame them for wanting to live in the BEAUTIFUL states, now can you? These people LIVE PREPARED! My aunt had a farm in beautiful, little, Port Byron and a tornado she said "Picked up one of the horses, and carried it over to the huge "rock " fencing, to a neighbor's farm, and placed it down in THEIR pasture totally uninjured! After that last tornado I experienced;, I bought that train ticket to California! (not that we don't have our own weather problems!) God, forbid we have a tornado and an earthquake happening "Simultaneously Someday?! "Then add FLOODING to the mix? But then they say " God never gives you more than you can handle?" Oh, sure, wish her a better "rest of her day?" That day that has been sacrificed for beautiful scenery, and will obviously be filled with more chaos and TOIL! I was an AmeriCorps member that worked in Alabama in 2019 when a tornado ripped through killing 23 people. I worked directly with people affected by the storm, be it through home damage or the loss of a family member. All we could really do was sign them up for government assistance, but honestly I could tell that just being there and offering help had a big impact on the victims. I just want to say this, survivors of these events deal with some very difficult emotions and trauma that linger for a long time. If you ever have someone open up to you about their experience with a natural disaster please offer as much sympathy and understanding to them as you can.

Yes the trauma and memories last for a very long time. I went through a tornado in 1989 and still sometimes have nightmares about tornadoes. So do have sympathy for the victims who lose everything. Praying for them

It is unprecedented how the National Weather Service issued These Warnings in some cases an hour before the tornado struck in an effort try to and save people's lives from these deadly tornadoes. The National Weather Service did an outstanding job and likely have saved hundreds of lives in their effort to try and warn those communities that were in the track of these long lived tornadoes.

im from mayfield. our town is literally destroyed. so many of my close friends lost there houses and the candle factory so many people are missing. my town is gone. jm so heartbroken and hurt because you cant prevent something like this. this was by far one of the worst tornadoes in history.

I can’t believe how lucky my mom and step dad were. They live less than an hour from Mayfield. I remember her calling me telling me her power was out last night and that she couldn’t sleep because of the tornado warnings blowing up her phone and worrying her. I stayed up all night once the first alert hit my phone, followed by all 4 sirens near me going off at once. It was super creepy knowing that a tornado touched down less than 30miles from me and heading my direction and the outside was just lighting up like mad but no rain, no hail, just loud wind. Thankfully my area was spared but 10miles from me was not. I hope everyone recovers well.

Truly sad...all those people who lost their lives breaks my heart... Prayers to all in the midwest. God be with you all .

This is so very sad for everyone especially that this happened right before Christmas. Praying for all the families who lost their homes and everything in it as well as those who lost their loved ones. What a mess and the amount of time it will take to get that city cleaned up :( Tornadoes really scare me, they're so fascinating to watch on video but I don't think I could ever live in a place where tornados frequent. I'd have a heart attack!

I lived through an F5 here in Kansas. Its devastating in so many ways ! Lost my grandma in that twister. She had a ranch style brick home & there was not a scrap of material on her land after the tornado. Rescue found her 4 blocks away in the rubble ! Praying for these people !

They’re more worried about animals than actual human beings. 100+ people have been killed in the greatest US weather based disaster in the past couple of years with who knows how many other 100s or possibly even 1,000s of peoples livelihoods blown away and life’s work torn to shreds, oH bUT i HoPe tHe PEts ArE oK! I’m sure the rescuers are aiding animals as well as people, but the focus should be on the actual people. It’s kind of insensitive and degrading to make a statement like that.

I am a resident of Murray Kentucky, located 20 minutes from Mayfield. This is the most HORRIFIC thing I've ever seen. The same tornado took out my childhood home and neighborhood over 100 miles away in Earlington ky., (Barnsley) My heart is broken this has happened and so close to Christmas. 😪 I am sending prayers, love, virtual hugs, to all the family's that were affected.

As a person who lived during a nature disaster of 2 hurricanes (last one was the strongest category 5 we faced) and lost a lot of people I wish the best for the survivor Don’t give up and hope will always appears …

I literally FELT this coming like a day and a half before it hit. My nerves were HUMMIN'. I didn't know what was comin' or when, but I KNEW somethin' was gonna happen. Then this morning I woke up to a power outage and what was already the previous day's news. I told a couple people I felt somethin' and it was HEAVY-- I was mostly ignored or even outright not believed-- but I tell you, I KNEW.

This was weather modification. (gookle it) Its path is laser like as with such clean breaks vs wind like crumbly breakaways.... You may have been feeling the effects of the HARRP system in prep for the next days devastation. Prayers for all those who have lost their loved ones and their homes. My heart is breaking. I have been to Mayfield and it's so hard to see this.

My boyfriends dad was just found 3 miles up the Benson creek by frankfort, ky today passed away. He was reported missing yesterday when his truck was found flipped upside down by the bridge. Flooding from the tornado swept his truck off the road.

I'm no expert, but my guess would be that the tornado didn't even go through this area. The damage in a straight line was likely the debris of the tornado that was still 1,000ft away from this area. A mile wide F5 tornado touching this area on the ground would likely have leveled this entire area.

Ive never experienced a tornado before. I lived in florida for hurricane irma but we had days to prepare for the worst. I cant imagine what that must have been like with no warning.

Tornado siren has gone off for a real tornado warning about 100 times in my town and a tornado has yet to drop. You just never know when the siren blares if you have anything to really worry about or not. I keep waiting for the day we aren't so lucky. Haven't been hit since the 50s.
