I live in Northern Michigan in the woods. When the main power goes out, my house will lose power for only ten seconds, then the Generac kicks in. It's worth the investment. Especially for those times the power is out for days due to bad weather. Thank You Mike for sharing videos of your amazing home!

Or "Everything will be weird, custom, like nothing I've ever seen before, and it'll take forever to figure it out before I can sign it off." I wonder the same about the FAA inspectors who have to sign off on builds like Scrappy, but city officials are likely in the same boat here too!

Mike - as a retired executive project manager for very large-scale industrial projects, I am extremely impressed with your engineering and your construction of your home. This is as good as anything I have seen installed in a refinery or chemical plant. Two questions I have are: 1) Are you creating a systems operation book with all schematics, owner manuals, operating manuals, etc. for the house? With the complexity of systems you have installed, this is equal to a small-scale industrial installation, which would have books of this type. 2) Did you ever consider using a PLC or some other form of unified computer control system to run all the systems and components you have installed? I am thinking something similar to a large yacht management system. Lastly, the fact you thought of your neighbors with your back-up generator system speaks volumes to how good a man you are.

Been following this build since the first shovel of dirt moved. It is as impressive as that flap and slat system on the plane, with a couple of extra's tossed in..... just for the sake of living.. 😉.. Farmboy, turned tech, turned boat tech, turned race engineer, turned airplane nut with a good dose of historic race car restoration here..... Did quite a bit with propane and gaseous flamy stuff . I might miss something in the vid, but in case of a very unlikely leak, since Mike did it, where would the propane pool or dissipate to? I see a drainage line under the grass and the the doggy stairs and door, all lower than the propane. If it does pool and something lit it, the foundations will rattle a bit... Sure of it that you did something, but I can not see it. Vent fan of some sorts?

Mike you are the mad scientist of mad scientists , I've only seen a few others like him in all my 64.5 years. I would love to hang with him for a couple weeks just to see what his life is like on a day to day basis and what makes him tic. Simply amazing man to say the least.

Impressive. My bet is there are no industrial/commercial pools with this level of redundancy let alone residential. I am rebuilding my pool, and just put in a Generac system tied to natural gas. No worries about power now, but I figure it is the one thing out of my control that messes up my day. Why not. I have batteries on the critical resource, gigabit fiber connection, and 26kw to everything else.

Love your videos! In my past career i was fortunate to build and design some very unique custom swimming pools! Are you at all concerned having the acid and chlorine stacked on top of each other? I was always concerned about a spill where the two chemicals might mix and cause a chlorine gas situation in an enclosed space! Get back to work!

Every video I just marvel at the capacity of this guy. Ofcourse he has backup also for his neighbors too. In next episode: "Guess what, city shutted down water but I had thought of that, so my pool water is drinkable and I put some extra water outlet for my neighbors so that they can drink too.” And of course there is exact same house underneath this house on hydraulic platform so that if this house gets ever demolished, Mike can just rise up the reserve house that is ready to live. How much we have not seen? dude propably has also aircraft hangar in the house etc... ”Sometimes it is nice to fly directly to house.” I would not bat an eyelid.

Estimating the environmental impact and use of resources in Mike's house, I realize what Mike can do for the fellow aviator: Make sure his spending of the earth's resources can be balanced by promoting and R&D of environmentally friendly aviation of the future.
