Over 100 miles, 17 off road sections. Can I complete what I failed to do last year?

With the Dalesman back on the road, it's time to have another go at the event that broke it last year! Bir can I manage it this time?

Just goes to show you don't need a spanking new, technology laden off roader. Well done.

Loved that! That little Honda engine seems a very willing power-plant. But some of that success MUST be down to the rider! Which trial was it? Please, can we have some more like this? Thanks for a great video, and well done on the bike conversion. Les

Thanks Les! It was the Falcon March Hare trial. Didn't record a few of the good bits unfortunately, but it was great fun! Got another trial on the 12th of May, but a slightly different type, bikes only.

Yes, I need to do something better if I record this again. It was only my phone on the bars.

Well done! If you had a choice would you go back to the original engine?

Humm. Good question! I'm not sure to be honest. For longer distance stuff, it's certainly handy it being 4 stroke! I might go to something like a Tiger Cub engine if I could. Then I could still enter the pre 70 British class.

Would you attempt it on one of your Montesa's ? I have obtained a V5 for my Cota 248 and will be hoping to obtain my bike ticket so as to be able to ride on the road and possibly take part in trials that use the public road.

On the 247 possibly, as it's got enough of a seat to still be doable.

The motor is about an inch too high in the frame. Gear box sprocket needs to be inline with the swingarm spindle centre.

Hi. It is as close as I could get to inline. I couldn't sit the engine any lower in the frame, so I moved the swingarm up in line with the sprocket as much as possible. Any higher, and the top of the chain rubs the frame. The Puch engine has a particularly low sprocket position, and the frame was built for that engine, so getting anything else to fit is tricky. This was the best compromise I could get without hacking the frame about.

@@whatsintheworkshop4478 The gearbox sprocket and swingarm pivot centres should be the same. Removing the bottom frame rails is the usual way of achieving that. If you are happy with it as is, then doesnt matter.
