I have been without power for a week and am likely to be without for at least two months. But I have solar panels and a battery. I have wired to the EPS socket so life is continuing with only small interruptions. I cannot use the wired in air conditioner or stovetop. But I can use a two burner induction stovetop and a smaller air conditioner. Gas? No. Mains electricity? NO. But we CAN function.

BOM uses thermometers next to twenty lanes of asphalt, but rejects well sited thermometers from the past.

I live on acreage way out of town, and when a storm hits the power is often out for a day or so. By design I have a gas stove (back-up bottles of gas too), plus a generator to see me over until the power is restored. To be clear, our property operates with the use of petrol, diesel, gas and water is stored in tanks, so normally we're okay. All electric? No thanks!! And an EV? Yeah right!!!
