Wade - Brilliant outfitting tips ~ (definitely will utilize for Scorch X outfitting) - curious about the foot block - I've seen others drill holes (make the main block like swiss cheese) and then sandwich that w/ thinner foam to absorb hits. Have you ever messed with that strategy? Also on the seat shims... You do that in lieu of the bigger shims that come with the boat, yeah? (I'm looking to improve connectivity in the X) - All the Mahalos for sharing your experiences and insights - saves a tonne of trial and error - SALUD!

The seat shims were some dagger hip pad foam that in a small wedge I just glued it in there. And as far as the bulkhead I have seen paddlers putting holes in foam to add extra impact but really I think of foam out the bulkhead it’s fine I do wish Pyranha would give you a thicker block to work with.

awesome tutorial! Question: best way to attach foam shims to an existing foot block? glue? double sided tape? two sided velcro?

Hey Wade - great content as ever! I demoed the Ripper 2 this weekend - loved how the boat paddled, but felt like the back band and hip pads sat very low on my back and hips, and not very secure almost like i'd slip out the boat on capsize. Is this kinda what the Scorch felt like before you made your adjustments, and does it feel more secure now if so?

I have made my own for my boat out of layers of stock foam it came with . Nothing aggressive but it helps. I actually would like to add more to mine but it makes the seat slightly uncomfortable. I'm tall and skinny so I have fitment issues every where lol.

Hey Wade do u mind me asking how tall u are? I run my seat in the middle holes, I have the Thigh Hookers installed and I notice ur mounting ur aluminum bracket 3 open holes from the front. I have the OEM foot pad on the OEM foot rest pod. I'm in a 2021 Machno. When I see how much ur knees are bent and the angle of ur feet it's got me wondering if I shud tighten up my position one more hole in the aluminum bracket (2 holes exposed). Ur thoughts?

Really appreciate your coverage of this topic. Foam at your knees /thigh hook and feet looks to be 2" or 3" thick? My knees are always knocking around. I've got to fix that!

Jakob there’s a guy I know how has installed full Contour outfitting in his Scorch L. It made the boat even heavier, but it looks awesome, and he claims it is stronger and safer that way. It is doable!
