Absolutely! Didn't realise how faded the old badge was until the new one went up next to it. It's crazy. Definitely helps the car look a little younger too which is always nice.

@@FuelPower, your Panda looks like it has very good paint, so the new badge probably sets it off well too. I suppose that the shape of the Panda hasn't changed much over the last 15 years or so, therefore it does still look quite contemporary in comparison with other 2008 cars.

It's paint is pretty good for a 12yo daily driver, few stone chips here and there and a couple of very minimal dents but nothing major. Did give it a detail myself (before I started doing this KZread channel) and it really brought it back and removed a lot of fade on certain panels that red paint seems to do more than other colours. You are quite correct, the shape really hasn't changed that much externally, it has only gotten slightly larger and more rounded in places. The gen 2 is still quite a common sight around me so it's not really a car I see as a car of it's time yet. It still blends into it's landscape well.

@@FuelPower, yes, it certainly is in better condition than our Astra was of the same age, although to be fair, the bodywork was pretty good. The Panda is now a bit of a classic shape, and the electrified prototype of the next generation they brought out doesn't seem to have changed very much at all. The Seat Toledo also blends in very well, although no one really knows what it is.

There's a couple more videos to come on the Panda's refresh which will likely be the next two videos. Meet the Fleet is still coming! I agree that the Panda has now become a classic shape on the roads, arguably as much as the BMW Mini and it's 500 sibling, although lesser looked upon due to not being as stylish (though that is subjective - I quite like it!) I think Fiat did a good job of stylising the Mk3 Panda with it's 'squircle' theme running throughout. You just don't see that many of them around me, maybe down to the increased price when new over the Mk2. I quite like their hybrid and the new gen, unrelated but i adore the looks of the 500e. From what i've seen of your Astra, it really doesn't look that bad. Paintwork seems in good condition and the interior looks very nice. I agree with you, the Toledo blends in with the background of everyday life. I think they were one of those cars that were quite popular but no-one really knew much about unless they were investigated. It's a good car though.

You're quite right! It's amazing how much of a difference doing something as small as changing the badge freshens up the look of a car. Freshening up the Panda is why I did a purge on the old faded centre caps and fog lights, the difference made is just crazy. It's not until you put old and new side by side that you realise how time does take it's toll on vehicle parts. The Panda didn't look bad by any means when I bought it but it needed a few things and I think it looks better for them :)

I've actually got a front badge sat here waiting to go on the front of one of the 500s. Delamination seems to be a very common issue with these Fiat badges.

So much nicer! Love the Panda 100hp! Well...I love the Panda, period, haha! Wish we got them in Canada. A Panda 4x4 would be perfect here in Nova Scotia....FWD and lots of practicality year round and 4x4 in the winter when I'd need it with the snow! My '09 Accent isn't always the best in deeper snow with FWD and an open diff :P As for the badge, the closest I've come is removing the stupid dealer decal from the back of my car (rather than on the license plate, as you folks seem to do here, our dealers put stickers on the rear trunk lid with mini-ads for themselves...or sometimes license plate frames). The big project for my car is some rust repair this coming Monday and new front rotors/pads on Thursday...not going to be cheap :(

It has made a huge difference! Old badge is now on my wall in my room for decorative purposes. The Panda is a very versatile little car for sure, my mum had a 1.2l before my 100HP and that went practically everywhere in the UK and was endlessly reliable (apart from a year old replacement clutch letting go on her way home from work one night, faulty part). Their main problem as a car seems to be that clutches wear through reasonably quickly however they are relatively cheap to replace. I also went to Italy on holiday a few years back now and the police and guards etc were still using the original 4x4 Pandas to climb Mt Vesuvius (This was after the gen 2 Panda 4x4 had been launched too) which I find impressive. I can definitely see the 4x4 working well in some of the snow you guys have in Nova Scotia and can confirm, they are massively practical for the size. Your dealership sticker being plastered to the back would be quite annoying for sure, especially being applied to the paintwork and not the glass like some dealerships do here. Dealerships here mostly put their names and things onto the plates as you say. In my Panda's case, it has a small sticker in the rear window (doesn't show that well on camera due to the tint) and on the plate. Similar story here with rust repair...got some to do to the Mini and a lot on my Renault too...the fun of older cars in a (mostly) wet climate. I feel for you and your wallet with those jobs being done.

Sadly, bodywork is ridiculously expensive here....I'm probably looking at a $1000 or slightly more bill once I get her back :/ Kudos on having the badge as wall-art...I love the FIAT 126p and hope to import one in the next year or two and a friend in Poland sent me a front Polski-FIAT badge that I have up on a wall as well :P kzread.info/dron/yOEfb56uT9Nzidw_EO5hnA.html That's a link to my channel if you ever wanted to check it out! :) I don't put much up very often and most are 'drive' videos, but I plan on doing one on some maintenance stuff come the summer. :)

No worries! Yeah, bodywork is verrryyy expensive here too, have a 'bit' of rust on my Renault's rear arches too. Got a quote last year to replace them with fresh metal with panels i'd already bought for it, £700!! You'll see how they look in a future video, just haven't filmed it yet due to camera issues which i am gradually working my way through - hard to repair when no camera shops are open currently for private use. Over the last year however I have been learning how to weld and also have contacts who can help out so may have a crack at it myself, do need a bit of practice for thinner metals first though! Badge wall art is the coolest! Also got a Vauxhall one from (I think) an Insignia? (Am I right in thinking it's branded as a Buick over there?). The 126p is a lovely machine, would quite like to drive one one day, maybe add to the garage, would need a bigger base of operations first though, yikes. Will definitely check out your channel, make what you're happy making :) It's what i'm doing with this channel and so far, it's done me a world of good personally in learning new software and presentation, there will be mistakes here and there but it's okay to make them.

Cheers! :) Yeah, 700 pounds is like...$1200 Canadian, so that seems about similar to here...the FIAT badge is the only one I have so far! :P I do have a nice collection of models though! Shotcut is a decent piece of open-source free video software if you ever wanted to try it! Great and helpful community and pretty decent features....a bit of a learning curve, but not bad!

It's a lot of money unfortunately :/ but it isn't easy so justifiable. We've all got to start somewhere with the wall art! If it's one you like, or even from a car you really really want to buy, it's all the more sweeter to have it on the wall ready for the day your dreams become a reality. I also have models in all shapes and sizes...too many even.... Will have to check out Shotcut, always open to suggestions for things like this, currently using DaVinci Resolve which is also free with a paid version available if you wanted to stretch to it which learning at the moment. Used to use Premiere Pro a few years ago and enjoyed it, problem is I keep thinking i'm using Premiere no matter what vid editing software, the keyboard commands were engraved into my brain from useage at College...un-learning them is harder than it looks!

Good video, I need to replace the badge on my Fiat 500. My car reg starts DU08F**, I wonder if they came from the same garage!

Thank you! Badge replacements on Pandas and 500s seem quite a common thing. DU seems to be a Staffordshire registration so if your 500 was registered there then it's quite likely they came from the same dealership. The cars may even have met briefly whilst waiting to be collected!

I can't imagine it should be too different, I can't see Fiat investing too much money into changing the bumper fitment. If you do it or have done it, let us know how you got on!

Does anyone know what adhesive I would use to add mine back on? It fell off, during the brutal Chicago winter.

A 60x60mm or larger 3M double sided pad cut down to size and shape should be enough to restick your badge 👍

Would this work for a Fiat 500 as well? My tailgate badge has water damage 😩

Hi there, Initially I wasn't sure how to answer this as I don't personally have a 500 and many of the online responses I have seen are not 100% clear with many saying remove bolts and interior trim, others saying it's like this video etc. I have found this guide on Fiat500owners.com which might be able to answer your question ( www.fiat500owners.com/threads/removal-of-rear-hatch-door-latch-and-front-mustache-fiat-logo.6320/ ) which seems to show in the 2nd picture the rear badge fits in the same way as the Panda's one used in this video. Many of the badges on eBay (such as the one I bought) also say they fit the 500 as well as Panda, 124, Tipo etc. If this is the case, then yes this method would work but it may be worth asking a forum just to be 100% sure as they may have changed how they fit them depending on which model of 500 you have and how old it is. Sorry I can't be more help with your question but I hope this can help you in some way 🤞

@@FuelPower Thank you--I have same problem as the other commenter, with water damage to my rear badge. Oddly enough, my front badge still looks like new! I'm going to do some paint restoration work first (and restoring the headlights this week), and the new badge will make my Boo look like new ❤️

Will this work for the front of a fiat punto aswell?

I'm not sure it would. The Pandas and Puntos share the same size of badge but I believe the badge is bolted on the front of both (It is on the Panda anyway). As the Abarth Punto badges fit the Panda 100HP (Common mod on them) i'm 99.9% certain the front badge on the Fiat Punto bolts on with a single bolt and nut (8mm spanner works well) holding it in place. Changing the badge itself with a bolt is easier than what you see here but you'll have to find a way to get behind that front bumper. If the Punto has 4 bolts on the front bumper below the bonnet, you might be able to undo those and get your hand in that way. Hopefully this helps 👍

If you lift the bonnet and remove the 4 bolts on the front bumper, you should be able to get your hand in the gap and undo the nut (I think its M8 size socket from memory) then you should be able to pull the front badge off

Is there any chance you could clean the old one instead of replacing it

You probably could clean it up if you wanted to keep the originality though likelihood is it would take longer and probably cost more to do that than just replace it by the time you have the materials you want. There is always the alternative option of putting a sticker over the original badge.

New badge will look bad quite quickly as well sadly. The quality of these badges is not that great. Moisture can get behind the clear plastic and rot away the painted tinfoil. Also, the clear plastic seems to have no UV blocker. I love the design of these badges but to preserve them you will need to do some extra steps and fix the original shortcomings.

It might well do but the original badge was on there for 12 years. It seems to be a common issue on these badges which as you say, shows that the quality of them isn't that great. I like the style of them too, it's very simple but is very appealing I think. There is always more that can be done to preserve these kinds of things but given the replacement badge cost about £7 buy, i'm personally not too worried about taking extra steps to preserve it, especially if it'll last at least another 8 years before I need to think about replacing it again and even then, replacing it is pretty straightforward.

@@FuelPower true, i got some cgeap replacement badges for my panda. My headlights were yellowing a bit, so I got some 2k clear coat with uv blocker to restore those and also sprayed my new badges with it. Hope they stay nice longer.

Paint the old piece black and put it back in the car.

You can find them for sale on ebay or alternatively, though more expensive, a Fiat dealership. Mine was about £7 on ebay for reference.

So the two holes on the car serve no purpose? Thats what confuses me... What was on the back od the badge once you took it of? You could have shown us that 😊 Some pins, screws, or?

Imagine if you'd invested in a trim removal tool this video would of been a maximum of 1:30. In truth the adhesive in the rear badge rarely sticks the badge on it's normally held on by the two pins and a prayer. When I changed mine it took longer to walk out to the car than actually change the badge.

I hadn't got trim removal tools at the time however I now do as this video was made over a year ago when my garage kit was considerably more limited. I also made this video to show how it could be done without the use of tools such as trim removal type ones and as many companies that do vehicle wraps and such use a technique similar to this to remove badging, it clearly works just as well for this job. It's just down to preference at the end of the day. If I were making this video now, it would definitely be a shorter one.
