I want them to make a movie out of this whole trilogy. THESE BOOKS ARE AMAZING.

Out of the Silent Planet is the best book in the trilogy, hands down.

Forest Gump Hanks on a walking tour, then Castaway Hanks on Malacandra… genius. Well done!

Great comments on who should play ransom. Nice trailer too. Ariel pink should do the soundtrack though!

The spaceflight scene, if done right, could be spectacular. Some of the concepts that Lewis describes are so ingenious. You don't need a lot of action to make a good movie... a great story such as this would suffice.

Even though I never got the Serenity vibe from the space ship in the book - I felt it was a little bit more 30's scifi, a little chunkier and less aerodynamic, lol - I absolutely love it now that I see it. Good choice of clips.

Tom Hanks as Elwin Ransom? No, just...no. Jim Caviezel, on the other hand...now that has potential.

While I do appreciate the use of clips from Serenity, they're not all that accurate. I'm sure you're aware of this since you are obviously a fan of the book. I could see Caviezel being a decent Ransom. The thing to remember about these books is that the character of Elwin Ransom is based on JRR Tolkien. That's the place to look for inspiration for that part.

Peter Jackson or Duncan Jones should direct it. And Ransom was rather a feeble guy in the first book, not foreboding. Sam Rockwell would do a good job like he did in Moon.

Fuorest Gump goes to Mars! Say it ain't so! I would love to see Out of the Silent Planet made into a film, but I feel there are very few filmmakers up to the task Also, it would be a cerebral film - relying heavily of visuals. I think Tarsem Singh would be the perfect director, with Tom Hardy as Dr. Elwin Ransom - though Tom is a tad younger.

Ransom is based on Tolkien: not a "feeble" guy, Think Faramir... not a zealot or Special forces type but a professor who knows how to fight in a pinch, but prefers not to... So yes, Hanks would be good.

if they make a movie they should make it right and accurate i havent read ootsp but i have read perelandra and it wasna beautiful book it would be a shame to ruin it.

I would love for a movie to be made of that trilogy, BUT...I think the trailer you did for it is totally unsuitable :( It's kind of cheesy and thriller-y, rather than fantastical and enchanting. Action, and loud fast music would not do Lewis's ethereal description of the planet justice.

I found this doing some research as I am pondering the idea of filming OOTSP. It would have to be true to Lewis or it had better not be made. I'm thinking low budget fan project maybe even black and white. Perhaps set in present day (to avoid massive expense) and since we now know Mars uninhabitable perhaps use distant star and dispense with space ship, use 'Weston rays' and TARDIS like transportation (as in Voyage to Arcturus). It could be done, but NOT by Hollywood. Think Blair Witch Project

I can't wait until they bring the whole Space Trilogy to the screen. Tom Hanks would make a good Ransom, but I'd rather see a native British actor get the role; a young Peter OToole would have been ideal, but Billy Boyd (a Scot) would be interesting.

im not sure about tom hanks in perelandra there is an big fight scene so it should be an older man who looks a bit touher but tom hanks doesn't really look the part maybe harrison ford

I can totally see Tom Hanks as Ransom, tho Demons from Lost would be a cuter, handsomer alternative. Greta job :)
