The thing that broke my immersion somewhat was that as you moved between sectors in the slums, the plate sections above didn't move accordingly. Especially once the plate falls, it becomes very obvious that you're not getting closer/further away from the collapse as you move around sectors 5 and 6.

@@maiastniki if you heard how portals in portal works, then you know how half the game works. Adjustable Field of view is sacrificed in order to preserve some optical illusions, which are kinda like a tag texture baked in. It disappears when you get the object it portrays . The objects from the optical illusions (those that need to be viewed on a certain angle to obtain) actually spawn when certain the player clicks the object in correct point of view. When the player is near the correct POV it also snaps their camera into place to make the transition seamless. the objects scale based on the camera and the facing wall's distance. You'd be surprised how simple it actually is. Especially that resizing through portals bit. The cardboard house is pretty impressive though. Can't imagine how much bug squashing that took to be stable. It is interesting on a technical perspective. But it takes away the magic.

I always loved playing WoW and finding my way out of bounds and under the map. Before Cataclysm released I got behind the dungeon entrances in Stratholm and Ahn'qiraj and I've always loved seeing where devs put certain objects. In the fake Stratholm dungeon they tagged the street signs as "Doodads" and I'll always remember that

Actually one of the doors in Naxx 10/25 I remember having 'doodad' on it on hover-over too--fully accessible by player lol. I'd really love to have a private server to just fly around in WoW, I did that as a kid once and there are so many more things I'd want to look at. Unfortunately on TBC Classic you can't get into Hyjal anymore, but you could in Vanilla WoW Classic.

I did the relatively easy tasks of going under Stormwind and above Ironforge. But I failed to reach Old Ironforge. By the time I got around to trying, they patched the wall behind the vault to go directly through to the regular throne room. And the clipping above the other spot above the bookshelf then relogging ended up teleporting me to the regular zone entrance.

I'm sure there's a more complete model used for the CGI cutscenes and skyboxes, but even that isn't going to be 100% accurate to the places you actually visit. We only end up visiting about 1/4 of Midgar in both the original and the remake (1-2 sectors on the top plate, 3 on the bottom) so I don't expect there to be anything interesting in the others unless they plan on doing more with Midgar in the next parts.

It's always a fun surprise when you find a pair of hidden eyes! The character close ups are a treat. Watching the cutscenes from a different angle is really cool. It's like you're a bystander. Exciting episode!

I think the bullet is supposed to be M00 rather than MOO. The M is likely for Midgar and the 00 is the size of the bullet shell.

I might know why the textures stretch on some of those environments. 3D models need to have their surfaces mapped to 2D textures in a process called "unwrapping", or also sometimes "U.V. mapping" depending on whether you're talking to an artist or a programmer. In this process, each vertex on the model is assigned a 2D coordinate on the texture. Texture coordinates can also extend past the borders of the image. In some graphics frameworks, such as OpenGL, the programmers can set what happens to coordinates outside of the texture's bounds. They can loop around to the other side, get forced back to the edge of the texture, or extend the texture's edge out infinitely, which might be what happened here. Or it could be something else entirely; I have no idea how they made this game.

yeah that seems right. similar to when you extend an image boundaries beyond where it naturally scales it just stretches the color out to the end of the new border like a barcode

Awesome! Let's see some of those city zoomouts and flyarounds... FF7R puts you in the Midgar box after all, might as well see as far out as we can :)

Weird to see how they made a perfectly good illusion with the skybox of the plates above, but completely failed the chapter 6 illusion with the slums below.

I'll like to see an out of bounds video of the original prey and dead space 2. I wonder if the necromorphs gathered around the marker are just flat textures or low poly models. FF7 remake has a lot of good detail to it that we couldn't see otherwise.

Sephiroths belt emblem appears to be a representation of the "One Wing" that we will eventually see.
