CLIP DESCRIPTION:
During a dance, Denys (Robert Redford) debates the changing state of Africa with Karen (Meryl Streep) and gives her a New Year's kiss.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Out of Africa is drawn from the life and writings of Danish author Isak Dinesen, who during the time that the film's events occured was known by her married name, Karen Blixen-Flecke. For convenience's sake, Karen (Meryl Streep) has married Baron Bor Blixen-Flecke (Klaus Maria Brandauer). In 1914, the Baron moves himself and his wife to a plantation in Nairobi, then leaves Karen to her own devices as he returns to his womanizing and drinking. Soon, Karen has fallen in love with charming white hunter Denys Finch Hatton (Robert Redford), who prefers a no-strings relationship. A woman who prides herself on her independence, Blixen finds herself unhappily in thrall to a aloof man -- and doubly unhappy for living out such a cliché situation. Although Redford received a lion's share of criticism for his too-American performance, Streep has rarely been better, and the film's perfectly measured pace is offset by David Watkin's stunning location photography. The movie was nominated for 11 Academy Awards and won 7, including Best Picture, Best Director for Sydney Pollack, Best Adapted Screenplay for Kurt Luedtke, and Best Cinematography for Watkin.

Robert Redford was his generation's "Brad Pitt," they even share a resemblance. I never noticed until this clip. Funny little every day observations...

Redford was and is much more than that - director, film Institute founder, environmentalist, and still a reluctant heartthrob to many of us.

Does anyone else remember Robert Redford and Meryl Streep in bed and Robert Redford says don't move. I think the sexiest thing a man can say to a woman in bed

And the look at 2:43 with pulling the confetti ribbon off her shoulder. Genuine interest/desire. He was in love with her the night he and Barkley stayed the first night with her, he was just more subtle at showing it, and took his time to low-key court/woo her. then what Bror was where he had no shame in publicly displaying his cheating.

I was 19 when I saw this film and I have loved it and watched it ever since. Watching it now I can't help but look at Robert Redford (who seemed so old when I was 19) and think that Brad Pitt today looks so much like him here.

Brad Pitt is not a touch on Robert Redford and, furthermore, cannot act! I am actually embarrassed for him in a movie. Actually stopped watching movies he is in.

This looks unbelievably boring. 😶 And absolute lowest common denominator romance novelish. I vaguely remember being dragged to this as a kid by my mother. It felt like it was about 3 hours long. But looking at it as an adult, it honestly doesn't look any better.

It actually isn't, It's actually a really great movie. It is about 3 hours long but as a kid you probably didn't understand the meaning behind the whole thing. You shouldn't judge it just based on a clip, and what you thought of it as an ignorant child.
