And the look at 2:43 with pulling the confetti ribbon off her shoulder. Genuine interest/desire. He was in love with her the night he and Barkley stayed the first night with her, he was just more subtle at showing it, and took his time to low-key court/woo her. then what Bror was where he had no shame in publicly displaying his cheating.

Love this scene. Meryl and Robert what could be better.

I was 19 when I saw this film and I have loved it and watched it ever since. Watching it now I can't help but look at Robert Redford (who seemed so old when I was 19) and think that Brad Pitt today looks so much like him here.

Brad Pitt is not a touch on Robert Redford and, furthermore, cannot act! I am actually embarrassed for him in a movie. Actually stopped watching movies he is in.

I Love very much Robert Redford. Love Out of Africa and this scene; The Way We Were; The Great Gatsby; The Candidate; All The President's Man; Indecent Proposal; This Property Is Condemned... and all the movies he starred in.

God they're beautiful. I love how they're like "Oh my god... everyone is kissing, does it mean we have to kiss then... ? Ok I guess so... doesn't matter (s)he's so gorgeous" :-)

Totally agree Lucas Davis! I was 19 when I saw this at the movies and I was with an older girlfriend at the time in the cinema. I had to struggle to hold back tears at the ending.

Yes, I thought it was lazy on Redford's part not to play the role with an English accent. Sidney Pollack should have insisted on it.

he did film a few scenes with an English accent but the director thought it would distract the audience so he told Robert to not do the accent

@@ivangomez123 Maybe, but he won't have RR's characteristics. Which is Bitter-Sweet honestly, because he has such a great personality. But he's got traits and manners that no one else has (Which is great honestly because he's his own man and I can't admire anyone else more for that.) that's gonna be heartbreaking and missed when he's gone.

This looks unbelievably boring. 😶 And absolute lowest common denominator romance novelish. I vaguely remember being dragged to this as a kid by my mother. It felt like it was about 3 hours long. But looking at it as an adult, it honestly doesn't look any better.

It actually isn't, It's actually a really great movie. It is about 3 hours long but as a kid you probably didn't understand the meaning behind the whole thing. You shouldn't judge it just based on a clip, and what you thought of it as an ignorant child.

I am so sick of Meryl and the accents but the book is really good and try "West with the Night" for more British East Africa.
