OurTour Getting Covid-19 Tests in Santander, Spain, Before the Ferry to the UK - March 2021
To return to the UK in March 2021 we need to have Covid-19 tests in the three days before we leave Spain. We booked antigen tests for €40 each online via the saludsavia.com website. We then had to get in touch with the Medicantribria clinic (we did this by email using google translate) for an appointment. They replied back really quickly and spoke good English.
On the day we stopped at the free motorhome aire in Santander, it took around 30 minutes to walk to the clinic, but there is a big hill between the two - there are outdoor escalators if you can find.
Tests were being done between 11.30am and 1pm and we could either look online for the results or go back after a short while and pick up paper copies. We opted for the latter to speed up things in the port.
You had to queue outside the clinic and go in one at a time. The receptionists ensured they had all the details they needed (if ordering via savia make sure you have the pdf that comes with your email) and then you went into a room where someone in full PPE did the test by swabbing up your nose.

Great video...your guidance is better than both brittany ferries and the UK government. How much did it cost? I ll watch again incase I missed it
Great to see your tests clear and your travel deadline met. It looks like a massive PITA getting back to the U.K. wishing you both fair winds and following seas on your return to Blighty!

Thank you very helpful information as heading back next week. May I ask where did you get your day 2 & 8 tests from ?
Glad you beat the deadline. What would have happened if the tests had been positive, would you have had to remain in Santander? Are people classed as still being in Europe whilst you are on a French boat?

If we'd tested positive we'd have to had self-isolate in Spain for 10 days and get a later ferry. That would push us out of our 90 in 180 days Schengen Area limit but we suspect the Spanish border force would treat anyone favourably who had a ferry booked but couldn't use it due to a positive COVID test. We've not tested that theory though. As far as I know the registration country of the boat is unrelated to Schengen departure - I believe once we pass through Spanish passport control in Santander we officially leave the Schengen zone. We'll see! 👍
Do they also do PCR test?
Good informative video 👍 have tried contacting these people but not much joy , do you know if you can just turn up for test within times you have mentioned ?

I'm not sure Pat, they were really busy when we arrived but from what they said that was unusual so you might normally be able to just turn up? Personally I'd try to get booked in just to be sure you can get a slot. Best of luck, Jay

@@OurTourBlogVideos Thanks for reply Jay , coincidentally had a email back from them this afternoon to say you just turn up from 11.30 to 2pm for testing (hopefully no big queues 🤞)
