OurTour Drive Deserted Roads Across Spain and France In The Covid-19 Motorhome Exodus

As Spain announced it was going into lock down, we hit the road and headed home. We filmed a few bits of during our journey from the very south of Spain near Tarifa, to the Chunnel in four days. It was a frightening experience as countries went into lock down around us and borders were closing.

Yes it is weird to see the roads in Europe so deserted. We were in Albufeira with our caravan when we were told to 'get to Calais as soon as possible'. We left Albufeira, drove from Portugal, through Spain, through France to Calais. Crossed on Eurotunnel to Meriden then one long leg up to home (503 miles). That was a journey of 2,103 miles in just 6 days, towing an 8m long twin axle caravan.! In Europe ALL campsites were closed and many Aires de Service as well. We wild camped in truck stops.

That was a journey and a half. I would have cried when I got off the Eurotunnel

No tears, but one massive sigh of relief as the train set off.

Yep, it was one of those drives we'd rather forget but suspect we won't.
