I did the Chiefs VIP. The others was booked and they looked like a better experience with sunsets. It was just average to me and our food was cold. the pig that is. Next time i wont wait till the last minute. Get your reservations in as soon as you hit the island or before actually. 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽

As “touristy” as luaus can be, I love them. I love the live entertainment and being able to immerse myself in the cultural crafts and food.🙏🏻 I remember pre-COVID days where you get pulled up on stage…LOVED THAT! 😎It’s what got me started with taking Tahitian dance/drumming lessons when I got back home. I booked the luau at Disney’s Aulani resort for next month…looking forward to it🤙🏻 CHEEE-HOOOOO👊🏼💢

They give you the start times when you buy the ticket, they did all the show on stage you didn’t participate, unless you were a lucky guest they chose

This luau looks awesome. I know some Hula dancers that are really well respected on Oahu and I can tell these dancers at this luau are really legit and amazing. Really first rate dancers. I've been to a luau before and they are fun. Your rating was solid. Glad it was a high one. These people deserve it!So good!

Those weaved baskets would make great planters for flowers. Love those handsome beastly men dancing - the fire dancing has always been my favorite. Your Lei's are actually Kukui beads which are ceremonious to weddings.

Cheif's Luau is the best; small and personal. Toa Luau is also a good small luau, just a bit of drive from Honolulu. Paradise Cove and Germain's are mega Luaus (800+ people). Very impersonal and commercialized. Kind of like a trade show conference dinner with some entertainment.

That Nut Lei is a kukui Nut Lei...aka Candle nut. Not sure if you caught the distinctions between the dancing, but there were dances from all the different Polynesian islands/nations Hawaii is in the north, New Zealand Maori is south, but the islands inbetween all share a similar language and culture that has diverted over hundreds of years.
@DanVsWorld
Жыл бұрын
Yep, the chief explained each dance before hand didn’t want to reveal too much of their show
Great and an amazing luau & performance. Anything involving fire dances is not Hawaiian but Samoan. A traditional Hawaii luau is mellow & some you sit on the ground. 🤙

Another nice video with you and Leah. It brings back memories of the luau I went to on the North Shore at the Polynesian Cultural Center (no booze, Mormon run). It was in the mid 1990’s. A question, I saw the roasted pig in your shots but I saw only Kalua Pork. Where was the roasted pig, was that for show only?

@@DanVsWorld oh no! I was waiting for the scene like you’d see at The Bacchanal Buffet. That’s kinda janky. I wonder if any of the Luau companies actually serve the suckling pig the proper way? It been too long from my experience and I didn’t eat pork back then. So it wasn’t a strong memory.
Wow that kalua pork looked tasty!

I'm glad you enjoyed the experience, but that was a pure touristy lūʻau and show, and I canʻt believe how much you paid for it. The only "Hawaiian" food you had on your plate was the kalua pig, which was probably cooked in ovens, not the roast pig supposedly cooked in the ground that they had on display. You passed on the other typical Hawaiian dishes -- poi and lomi salmon -- as most tourists would do, and except for the Okinawan sweet potato, none of the other dishes would be found on a "Hawaiian plate" at a restaurant or at a traditional lūʻau. (Maybe the white rice for people who donʻt eat poi.) I hope Amanda & Felix gave you some advice about where you can eat REAL Hawaiian food that people in Hawaiʻi eat. Maybe I just haven't seen all of your videos yet, but a lot of other foodie vloggers have covered where to eat Hawaiian food that local people eat. As for the show -- sorry, that was mostly a Polynesian show featuring the exciting dances of the Maori in New Zealand, Tahiti, Samoa, and Fiji. I only saw a couple of Hawaiian hula, and they were very touristy. Maybe you tried, but I think you could have had a more authentic or worthwhile experience at the Polynesian Cultural Center (though I haven't been there for a while, and I've never paid for a VIP package.) At least if you're really interested in the Polynesian cultural part. Paradise Cove is supposed to have a popular lūʻau and I know people who worked there, but I would never pay that much for the experience (even just the regular price of the buffet), so I donʻt know how "authentic" or worthwhile it is. Anyway, these Hawaiian Luau Shows know what appeals and doesnʻt appeal to tourists, so I guess you canʻt ask local people like me who love Hawaiian food and authentic Hawaiian music and dance.
Paradise Cove Luau would have been better
