Looks like your chocolate seized …just add boiling water a little at a time and it will smooth out. Love the clock, the paint and you both!! Can’t wait to see the finished room!

I searched to see if someone had suggested the hot water solution for the chocolate. 😊 I recently made some icing, read that instruction for chocolate. Love the Scandinavian colors.

And don't overheat the cream. I have found it's safest to heat the cream & chocolate up together and just heat it to a temperature where the chocolate starts to melt. Do not boil the cream.

I have had success making this type glaze using a double boiler or simply a bowl sitting over a pan of simmering water not quite touching the bottom of the bowl. Place your ingredients into the top bowl, stirring until it has melted and is incorporated.

@À Strand Each dish they make in their videos has the recipe written in the description box. They always mention if a dish is not gluten-free, but the majority of dishes are gluten-free.

I am a fan from New Jersey in the US and a retired teacher and designer. Your wait time is pretty standard unless ordering from a store that stocks inventory in your particular finish and fabric! The Mora Clock is wonderful! Being Swedish, of course I cheer for your chosen theme. I would never have dreamt of such a bright yellow wall colour, but it will definitely make for a sunny, cheerful dining experience. ☀️ I love the curtain material. It seems to work well with the tiles. We have similar chairs, and I think it's going to look lovely once it all comes together.

I absolutely love the color selected for the dining room. Kirsten, don't apologize . The cake looked delicious! The crumb looked very moist! Next, the materials for the room!

When I first saw the room and then the Mora clock...I thought a nice golden, saturated yellow would be beautiful, and there it is!!! Love it. I hope everyone is feeling better. Take care, thanks for sharing.

I live in Florida USA and painted the exterior of my home a very similar color, maybe a bit lighter. It seemed very bright at first since it had been a dream color. Now it looks just fine and I love it. You are on your way to a lovely new room to enjoy. Have fun picking out the fabrics and window treatment!

WOW, What a clock! The decorative painting looks very much like the Pennsylvania Dutch designs we often see on antique furniture here in the states. When I saw Joerg open the can of Yellow paint I said, " Oh, that's much too bright!"....then I looked up at my ceiling and my kitchen cupboards...Mustard Yellow! So, never mind......🙂

This is so exciting!! The dinning room is full of possibilities- has good bones already! I remember when you visited that Swedish antique market with the Mora clock! That is quite a secret you kept. The clock is stunning. Can’t wait to see you and Joerg weave your magic again! Love it already!! ❤️

My Swedish grandma had this shade of yellow in her kitchen/dining area 💛💛💛

You bought the Swedish clock from that antiques barn!! The video that I only watched the other day. All those clocks were such a lovely discovery... I'm a big fan of Gustavian furniture and -my addiction is fed- I'm actively encouraged by my Swedish-but-Honorary-Brit pal Bella - who not only has immaculate taste, but has a second career as in interiors consultant. I know like me, she'd approve of that stunning Scandinavian Stripe fabric. I _love_ those vivid colours of Rosi de Ruig's home. And the sun yellow is a fabulous idea for your dining room - I'm so pleased you're going for something vibrant. I painted the exterior of my old Victorian terrace in a lovely warm yellow and it really looked great on an overcast day. 💛 FYI - your chocolate has just gone a bit granular through overheating - a little too long or too hot. Chocolate is a bit of a delicate flower so I only tend to heat it in a _bain-marie_ - a bowl over a saucepan of water, giving you indirect heat - rather than directly in the saucepan itself. You can control the heat much easier without getting hotspots then. I don't have a microwave, but I know chocolate also melts well in short microwave bursts. I bet you barely noticed it when you tucked in, though... 😋 Looking forward to more Dining Room shenanigans! 🤗💛

Stunning choices! One thing that works for me when painting, is a light sanding of the walls before applying the new paint. And the clock! What a treasure!

Beautiful! I love the paint colour! It will bring out and highlight the details in the clock. I can just picture it! Combined with the lighter furniture and the upholstered chairs, the dining room will be exquisite!!! What are you going to choose for the ceiling light fixture? I've actually made the non-gluten-free version of that cake. If you melt some coconut oil with the chocolate, the glaze turns out perfectly. Thanks Kirsten and Joerg! Thanks so much! Luckily there are light fixtures in the room so we're not under pressure and can look for something antique. Absolutely, that should work perfectly, we usually use coconut for a chocolate glaze. I wanted to stick to the recipe only to find out it wasn't ideal.

I really love it! I lived in a yellow house once. It looked so happy. I painted my living room a soft buttery yellow and my dining room is wallpapered in a beautiful gold stripe. What a beautiful clock, it will look gorgeous on the yellow paint. I am really looking forward to seeing how the room will look when it is completed. I was very impressed, with how your cake came out. Children could eat it, the hot temperature from the oven evaporates the alcohol.

When I do a chocolate ganache glaze, I typically heat up the cream, but then take it off the heat and let the chocolate melt into. It makes it smooth and shiny. How odd the recipe had you cook the chocolate. Maybe it was a different type of glaze than I’ve done. Looked yummy anyway.

Yes, this is exactly what I did.

It was such a nice surprise to see that you 'adopted' a Mora clock. They are often called a Swedish grandmother's clock. I've never found one where I live but did know a lady who brought one back from Sweden years ago. You have very good taste and it will be nice to see how things look when everything is in place. Thank you for sharing.

The clock is wonderful! I suggest a mirror with a wood frame, closer to the mantel .. the wood tones are so lovely.

Your chocolate seized up on you. Don't let the cream get too hot. I'm sure it was still delicious! That mora clock is beautiful!!

I also used to have a buttery-yellow kitchen, which felt suitable and was really 'happy'. But I agree that the richer Chinese yellow is perfect for a dining room. How excited I was when I saw that marvelous color. My country home in NS Canada had that color in the upstairs hallway with its wall of painted cupboards. I love it! And that clock; Swoon!

I like the mustard yellow color…so fresh and happy. You guys are so good at planning and decorating; also very patient at waiting for things to arrive. I know it will take time so I’ll try to be patient while waiting for “ Part 2 “ of the dining room make- over. 🥰

I love yellow in a home because it does make it so bright and cheery and you chose a very rich color, so pretty! That clock is amazing! Can't wait to see how it all comes together, I know it will be lovely like the rest of your beautiful home.

A little hot water before spreading the icing (stirring well and it will smooth out) and then let it cool a couple of minutes. I am glad it tasted good. Love your Mora Clock. Also how your dining room is coming along. God you both.

Love the clock...what a treasure! Can't say that I like the shade of yellow. It looks like egg yolk. However, you have such exquisite style, I'm sure you will make it look beautiful.

Love the Scandavian Style & that yellow! Will be interested to see how it turns out as I have a long Living Room / Dining Room in the centre of the house that needs painting. The roof leaked & paint peeling on the ceiling & one wall. The roof has been replaced so no more leaks. The chocolate cake with Advocaat looks delicious. Really love the chairs too.

The Mora clock is very special purchase . It will be such fun doing the dining room over and making it the way you both want it and will get many years of enjoyment when eating there. This mix of material with the chair will be very nice. Will enjoy watching you while we journey thought these new decorations and setting up of the dining room. I know you will be doing fabulous job. You have a lovely home already! I loved having you go over the v Fabricks! TY Glad you both are feeling better now! So much still going around! We too in the U.S. are having snow and rain and just a mess and tomorrow may be high winds. Some areas of even worse. We must go out tomorrow, but should find he roads a bit better as we must travel a bit to our destination but think it would be safe enough? We hope so.

Wir haben das ganze Haus außen gelb ,ein großes Zimmer mit gelber Tapete und das Schlafzimmer gelb gestrichen.Unser Esszimmer ist in einem kräftigen Orange.Das auch bei schlechtem Wetter so freundlich hell und Sommerlich wirkt.Ich bin schon auf den zweiten Teil gespannt,ob euer Esszimmer so wird wie ich es mir vorstelle. Absolutely LOVE a rich green, I bet it's gorgeous!

I'm in love with the dining room design ideas and that color yellow will give you the cheery sunshine feelings every minute of the day. Please consider a design board to put together your paint colors, fabric choices, photos of window treatments, lighting, etc. You could use the foam board which is firmer than poster board but you could see everything together in one place and add and delete as you move through the processes. Photos can come from magazines or online Pinterest examples. It's something we could see your vision applied before it happens and as it changes possibly. I'm so excited for you both in this new endeavor.

Oh...bright yellow.....that's going to take a while to get use to...bold colour.. Its...bright and cheerful...it's a nice shade of yellow....it's amazing how you can get use to it..

I can't wait to see the finished product! It must be such a relief to finally tackle the dining room. Even if it isn't an eyesore it just sits there reminding you more needs to be done. That antique Swedish clock is beautiful! I like the different country styles, they are all distinct yet blend very easily whether it's English, Swedish, French, etc. English will always be my favorite just because I'm so fond of florals, and it makes use of mix and match coziness.

You have such brilliant taste. I know everything is going to come out as if the designer himself planned it. I envy people like you, who can put colors together an it comes out perfect. See you soon.
