She is amazing and a savior to these girls. She's made the sport they love, fun again. She brings the best out in all of these lovely young ladies.

What an incredible woman. I never had the honor to attend UCLA but I was almost in tears watching her kids send her off in style. Watch the video of her current kids and all the alumni send her off on this channel by performing a dance off with a packed house of UCLA Bruins sending her off in style. Good luck in your future endeavors Miss Val. from an admiring fan. You are what the sport should be.

At least 20 hugs from her Bruins every morning. Wowww what more could she ask for? She has blessed so many....but I think she feels so blessed by the love she gets from her athletes.

What an amazing example of great leadership. She could tour the world to teach how to be a great leader. We need more leaders like her, for certain.

Seems like common sense that you would coach the whole person and not just a performance and that you would think about how each thing is going to effect their life not just their performance. It’s sad that most coaches have never even thought about this. As a former gymnast I experienced bad coaching and it affected me my whole life, hopefully there will be more coaches that choose to coach like Miss. Val

The Pac 12 is very lucky to have had legend coaches. One in a lifetime will we ever see Coach Val. Just like John Wooden, Oregon State Coach Jonathan Smith and Coach Pat Summons, Coach Rueck, its teaching to being on the show rather than being concerned about if you have it nor not. World, Olympic, AND collegiate champion. Kyla is INSANE. Simone may be the GOAT technical gymnast in elite gymnastics, but Kyla is going to go down in history as possibly one of the most complete overall gymnasts of all time.

You're probably a bit too young to remember that the men's basketball team, led by Coach John Wooden, really put UCLA on the map, with 10 national championships back in the 60s and 70s.

Hi there Ms. Val. My name is Rebecca Muñoz. I'm a single mom and coach. This is probably the hardest words I've ever written. My relationship with my daughter is really strained and it's my fault. We live in Houston. She practiced Gymnastics until she was 15. Loved it for a while then didn't. Probably because I was all about it and kept on moving from place to place, but for whatever reason I was very mean to her. Said really harsh things to her and of course that enabled her to rebel strongly against me. The day she turned 18, she left our apartment to move in with her boyfriend and his Dad. Alienating me almost 100%. I deserved that. That broke my heart and didn't understand what to do or how to react. I did what i knew how to do and moved to Berkeley and stayed there for 3 years. To make this a bit shorter, I'm back in Houston. Heigeil(my daughter) is pushing me away from her with all of her might. All I'm wishing for is an opportunity to fix what I broke in her heart and soul. If you have a chance, would you speak with me...please. All my heart has are little pieces left and I want to be able to give them to my daughter. With my heart in my hands to you, thank you for your inspiration, Becky Muñoz

Oklahoma fans still love UCLA! I always felt like our teams had a mutual respect for each other. Kj and Miss Val are close and the teams have a lot of connections with the gymnasts.
