ABOUT:
The Gay Men's Brotherhood is a group for gay men to connect with each other on the journey of healing from shame and becoming more authentic and aligned to their truth.
The group aims to offer inspiration, support, connection, healing, and a safe place to show up just as you are.
Our vision for the members is to learn to feel more comfortable showing up vulnerably so deeper intimacy can be established in our community.
We dream of a gay community where everyone can feel more connected to one another in more ways than just sexual and we can feel less loneliness as a byproduct.

"Treating gay men as people, not as potential sexual partners" was also a great way to approach a community defined by its sex and sexual orientation.

Thanks I connected to this. I came out late in life 42 and fell into a relationship and in the community I felt invisible, I struggled with worthiness before coming out and it has followed me.

This resonated with me so much. I think the most important thing is the willingness to connect, to meet people who are different. Some of us are lucky enough to live in multicultural, open minded cities, but even then it is amazing how hard it can be sometimes to really open ourselves and dare to meet different people, for dating, for friendship, work or anything else. But definitely having these discussions help a lot of us to take that step, so thank you, guys, truly.

Matt what you said really struck a cord with me. I may be wrong but I could sense sadness in you. It seems these issues are the same globally. I am so lucky to have the partner I do. I have a minimal amount of gay friends but they are lovely. My experience of the gay "community" has been really poor. All the negatives mentioned by you all have been the same for me. Over the years I joined gay groups for various Interests. After all these years I am still in touch with 3 guys from these groups or the "scene". I made many efforts over the years to "reach out" as you say but it was rarely reciprocated or guys would be friendly/sociable but only on their selfish terms. It would be great to have coffee/dinner/ catch a movie with you guys. Come to Ireland! :-) Thank you all. Big hugs.

It is and can be a Love-Hate lifestyle. Men for some reason play out a role to fit in, yet are vindictive, run hot n cold and aren't being their authentic true self. I speak from my experiences. It is a lifestyle that carries lot of depression, unstable path, fear, game playing. But finding this podcast is validated much of what I've fought with from day one. I'm not nor never quite fit the mold and felt more at peace on the sidelines. But having several loving gay friends I chose to be apart for their benefit. Like Michael said towards the end gay men come from all walks of life and his spiritual is me. You 4 men are awesome and am taking something away from each of you to play into my thinking and life. We are all brothers and the gay lifestyle is suffered so much even after June, 1969 to be accepted. So why can't gay men come together and put down the masks.

This was so so beautiful I want to be the change I want to see here in my city (Melbourne) and show up and lead with love, help myself and bring forth myself from the crab bucket, I want to help others who I see and it makes me cry for these other men, as you said lost boys, and maybe we could pour into each other's souls and find out fraternity, our brotherhood of love. That's I feel a life drive of mine after this last years. I want real connections, I have to front up and make those connections and be the change I wish to see. Thankyou so much for sharing as always. ✨

I needed to see this video, amazing stories and points of view. I was reminded to think “everyone is just doing their best” ❤ I’m not perfect and it doesn’t need to look perfect but I need to try harder to be involved in positive change, instead of allowing my past negative experience to ruin a chance at a beautiful experience ❤

Lots of relatable points in this video; thank you. Especially the animosity and jealousy at the cliques in the clubs. Enjoyed hearing that things aren't always as they seem on the surface. Matt's elocution of the lower self opinions of the gay community helped me realize I am not alone.

Matt, it would be really hard to be in a relationship with you, not because you are not a beautiful person, but I tend to be like you because of my position in life. I tend to look another man and reading them, and you would be doing that with them also. Have you ever just been who are, a simple person, looking for a true person open to love?? Just wondering, please don't take that against you, ok

Thanks for the comment Jon. I’m glad your experience of me offers you some insight into yourself. This is such a beautiful exchange we can offer each other. Being a clairsentient dating and love can be challenging for me but it also gives me an upper hand in knowing who is being authentic to their true nature and who isn’t. It can make weeding the garden a lot easier but it also can limit me from having some experiences that maybe I am meant to be having. What is your experience of this?
