Problem with the plant based approach is......its the plants and carbs that are causing the problems in the first place. Carnivore diet cured my ibs and gastric reflux and bloating in 1 week. 10months later, zero problems, zero fibre. I thought it was crazy, but apparently not.

@@johnallen7367 Glad it worked for you. As someone who is in cardiovascular medicine with a strong family history of heart disease, I see first hand what a plant based diet will do for those patients. This is also backed by years of science. I unfortunately see what a carnivore and keto diet do to others. Let’s not forget the original promoter ,Dr. Atkins. He died from coronary heart disease and congestive heart failure. I no longer have methane SIBO and did it on a high fiber, plant based diet.

This is me. Went plant based but have rectocele, reflux, esophageal spasm, left shoulder blade pain, cannot lie done and sleep. I fasted and working on SIBO treatment and chronic constipation. I just want to get rid of these spasm attacks. I’m losing weight but only because I’m scared to eat. Was doing so well eating njtritarian and starch solution but that made me more constipated. I’m working on moving the bowels, getting gallbladder to secrete and liver to work, but don’t know how to eat. It’s so conflicting!

I will soon start my rifaximin therapy (my test showed up to 70 ppm of H2) and for the duration of the therapy I will eat normally, to avoid bacteria from going into "hiding" but I thought maybe to do low FODMAP for a certain time after the therapy, do you think that makes sense? To avoid orvergrowth happening again soon after?

I have had a duodenal ulcer since 2021 and gallstones since 2002. My gastroenterologist put me on a PPI and he has performed 5 endoscopies in 3 years. I do not have H Pylori. There is too much scar tissue to remove the ulcer or the stones safely. My stomach bloats even when I drink water. I have been a vegan since 2011. I weigh about 127. I will ask him to test for SIBO when I have my next Endoscopy. I have read that I may not produce enough bile from the gallbladder to keep acid from burning the duodenal area.

Have you had prior surgeries? Dietary changes can drastically improve the function of your liver, pancreas and gallbladder reducing the severity of the gallstones. That would be an immediate next step.

High fat carnivore is a temporary escape from symptoms by falsely blaming whole plants. You likely also give up artificial ingredients, hyper refined grains, oils, sugars, etc (we agree with this). All of this does help, but 99% of people doing this are not getting to the root cause of why the dysbiosis happened in the first place. Ex “carnivores” and ex “keto” make up a good percentage of our patients.

The problem is research shows vegan eat a higher percentage of UPFs than pescatarians and keto/carnivores a full 1/3. That's a problem.. I was vegan and I ate like a horse and was always hungry so I opted for chips etc and vegan bars all UPFs.. unless you are a robot or crazy disciplined for most people a low carb Mediterranean diet is better as it's more satiating and is proven to cause less eating of UPFs! I'm not full keto I'm not carnivore a am coeliac and eating a very low carb Mediterranean diet cured 90% of my issues which were ruining my life. Quality fatty fish, avocados, nuts, some beef, chicken, hard cheese in moderation and lots of leafy salads drenched in EVOO
