JMO I’m just a person with SIBO not a doctor! The elemental is packages powder you mix. It is very expensive. A few years ago it was $750 & tastes horrible but can be tolerated if your not hypoglycemic. Rifaxamin at the time was $2,200 a bottle Bit SIBO is major and can cause so many health issues you don’t want to mess around with it I cannot tolerate a lot of things and I e had reaffirming SIBO for 4 years. My underlying cause was Lyme disease but I still have that also. I believe doctors should check for anything abstracting the digestive system. Heading back to the doctor today as I’m bed ridden again and really sick! One thing he didn’t mention is the lack of absorption of nutrients and this has been critical for me and last hospital stay was 8 days. Be diligent and get a good doctor who actually cares as this has not been a fun road

Something that is often overlooked is fixing the underlying problem that lead to SIBO. As an example, is if someone isn’t producing enough hydrochloric acid (HCL), the SIBO will continuously come back. Loose stools with positive SIBO often can be a cause of low bile flow. Hard stools/constipation + SIBO diagnosis can be a sign of poor HCL production. Taking TUDCA or Green Beet leaf powder can thin the bile to allow it to flow more freely. Just my two cents.

@@joy-lv2xhusually with sibo, we have low acid because we can't tolerate it, is my guess. You can fix your hcl issue by fixing the main cause of sibo, which is a slow working migrating motor complex. If you take ginger and artichoke supplements, you can take care of both hcl, and migrating motor complex, and it's the most inexpensive way to fix it.

@@joy-lv2xh I guess it would depend on where you have your ulcer. Ginger can increase your hcl levels, and are good for ulcers in small quantities. If you have sibo, it's good to fix your mmc, so taking artichoke with your ginger can help this to get your stomach working properly again.

Great advice here, I especially appreciate and agree with your advice on each person needing to assess their own status regarding diet, exercise, sleep, stress, emotions etc. all of these things need to be looked at and altered accordingly. It seems a lot of people want a magic supplement, antibiotic etc. to fix their issues, but there's usually much more that needs to be addressed in order to improve, including addressing one's emotional health.

Our article cites some current research on hypochlorhydria as a potential cause and risk factor, but it's a difficult condition to accurately identify (lab tests are limited in more ways than one). Taking HCL and monitoring your response is one potential way to assess if low stomach acid is fueling your SIBO.

I definitely have systemic issues...and im done. I cant do it anymore ..im only mid thirties and ive lived a life riddled with health issues....even though i dont drink alcohol, never have smoked/drugs, have good sleep habits, meditate, pure water, high plant based (battled with sugar and high carbs though) ... It just doesnt seem fair. Is a low fodmap diet complimentary with a low histamine ? Beyond healing from sibo, would low fodmap also heal "leaky gut" ? Many thanks for this video and the links to probiotics.

Thanks for this, I appreciate your evidence based approach. I agree with your comment about a certain SIBO expert who doesn't recommend probiotics - he obviously doesn't have SIBO! (or IMO, as is the case with me). I do appreciate what he has done for getting SIBO / IMO out there, but as is often the case, the focus is too much on IBS-D, and the diet he proposes doesn't work, at least not for me and my IMO. Low FODMAP is the only one that actually works for my gut issues (I ate some high fodmap fruit the other day, and boy, did I pay for it with the gut pain and bloating that went on and on for so long). I have found soil based probiotics to be good for both IMO and MCAS / MCS, but I will also try the other ones you suggest. Thanks again 🙏

The bloating/inflammation and symptoms are so overwhelming that I decided to take a leave from my job to minimize stress and anxiety. I feel like if my stomach/gut is going to exploit. I continue in my journey to seek healing. The doctor here is very professional in sharing the research that evidences the level of effectiveness of treatments. Very good information overall however I want to point out that it highly depends on the severity of the SIBO. Probiotics and Diet alone will not clear a severe case of SIBO, and people should definitely test to figure out where they are at on the spectrum (and which type they have). My numbers on the LBT were > 400 so clearly not a 1-round treatment type of situation. Good advice for mild SIBO nonetheless.

Exactly, this info given is way to simplified! The Dr (if educated enough) needs to know if it is only hydrogen that is elevated, and/or methane *and/or hydrogen sulfide which only the 'trio smart' can test for. Based on this, as to antibiotics, one might need only Rifaximin - or that combined with either neomycin or metronidazole - or bismuth in addition as well if it is hydrogen sulfide that is elevated. One must do some self-educating through the premier SIBO researcher in the world, Dr. Mark Pimental. See his most recent youtube webinars. Also, there is now a diagnostic blood test for IBS: 'IBS Smart Test' that can actually diagnose IBS and distinguish an IBS diagnosis from IBD. Again, see Dr. Pimental's intense research although he explains it in ways normal humans can understand.

Just remove everything and anything that can cause inflammation and feed any kind of microbes or bacteria or candida. Get a food sensitivity test if you can afford it if not try eating just meat for six weeks and see if you begin to heal. Meat tends to cause the least amount of inflamation in the gut. And the only way the guts going to heal is in the absence of reoccurring inflammation. And the only way a gut infection like Candida is going to die off is if you remove all the food eats. As far as I know there’s no microbe or candida or whatever that eats meat. It’ll take about four months typically. When you start feeling a lot better that would be a safe time to add probiotics. Though you can explore using them before that. Consuming healing supplements for the gut is good like glutamine. Use Meat as medicine. It’s only temporary. When all else fails this is a great protocol.

Isn't motility key to the whole thing? If MMC has gotten reduced function, from mold, food poisoning, or any number of other reasons. The bacteria begin migrating from the colon up to the small intestine. Which in turn leads to an overgrowth. I'd assume that getting this piece back would make everything else easier, and possibly reduce the need for a kill phase for many. Unless there is severe overgrowth or biofilms from SIFO as well. Curious about your thoughts on this 😊🙏🏻 be well!

Doctor: "Stronger Probiotic" Me: Collapse, bloating max. Doctor: "Colonoscopy time. Looks fine, you must have IBS. We'll call you for a follow up." Me: But I've never had pain. Doctor: "Must have IBS, try meditation." Never calls for follow up, nor do they return my primaries calls. Do note, all the research papers on SIBO can say anything you want it to at this point, that literature is a hot mess since SIBO can come about from so many diverse and potentially mysterious root causes. At least in my experience the ones that fit my personal observations is slow motility will lead to reoccuring SIBO no matter what I do to treat it. Probiotics can be great or they can just be the vehicle for more bacteria in your small intestine and further imbalance in GI systems that are severly weakened. Listen to your symptoms and pray your doctor cares enough to respond and knows enough to reapond correctly.

Food journal what to eat and stay away from. Doing this plus more for 25 years. Carovoir has helped most. Stay away from sugar, anything white or wheat. Research yourself. Don't rely on Dr's. That is why they call it a practice.

I tried the Elemental diet for 1 day and nearly fainted, believing my blood sugar and blood pressure got too low. Then started a modified Elemental (using the one version with whey) and replacing one meal with it. Then going about 5 days while reordering the diet and using Fodmaps+ no dairy. I felt a little better no still having many food reactions. I noticed once I used the Elemental diet again with in a few minutes i was having a reaction most likely the whey. I was disappointed that was an ingredient! Now after experimenting with foods think have High histamine reaction as MANY foods are causing reaction. I wonder if it would have different had I chose the Elemental diet with no whey. That one is more expensive but didnt realize the whey would give me a reaction.
