This new unit investigates the Solar System and Earth’s place within it in order to explain phenomena we observe on Earth. Students explore the cause of seasons and the phases of the Moon, developing their inquiry skills through a range of practical investigations. Along the way, students learn about how advances in technology helped scientists learn about the Solar System, and will even attempt to build their own model heat shields to travel to the Sun.
