Omg I love this show so much. It's ridiculous but absolutely lovely with all the representation. It's literally a pirate fanfiction which is so funny (Stede was a real person, as was Blackbeard). My personal favorite character is Jim, and the phrase "yes Jim that's hot" is something you'll find yourself saying A LOT. But I think your favorite will be the scribe in red, Lucius. Fun fact (we're backkkk) young Stede was actually played by Ryhs Darby's (Stede's actor) son! And they could not find a stunt man, so all the stunts were done by this kid!

Just finished watching the video and I am so exited to see what you think of this show! Yes, we will get a little more backstory to some of the crew, Stede and Jim included, and we have yet to meet a few fan-favourites... ;) I love love love that you used they/them pronouns for Jim right away, that is actually something addressed by them in the show later on. oh I cannot wait to see more and get some backstory for everyone!! totally! I wasn't quite sure so figured I would use those pronouns, I will say, I believe in episode 3? there is a pretty intense moment with Jim where I was ✨stressed✨ where I used the wrong pronoun but didn't realize in the video unfortunately to correct myself, although I don't think it has been addressed yet in the show so this is first time it's been confirmed for me that those are the correct pronouns so thank you for that!! 🩶

Oooh, yay, I'm glad to see you reacting to my favorite show! About your "I want more background": historical Stede Bonnet is really only the inspiration and starting point for Character Stede Bonnet, but the historical guy left home shortly after one of his children died (and *our* Stede's ambivalent response to the question "Do you want to live???" maybe echoes that, even as his depression is written as having different roots and angles).

It gers even crazier. Stede bonnet was a real pirate who actually left his wealthy family to become a pirate. It's reported he invented walking the plank. This show is very loosely based off real events. Including things we see a little further in I won't mention
