Not the nutrition in fome. The fome protects the rest of the beer from oxidation, so it tastes fresh longer. U Pinkasů is the first restaurant ever in Prague to have draft beer straight from kegs to glasses.

There's a nice story of how the Czech Republic came to be. In 1993 Czechoslovakia split peacefully into the Czech Republic and Slovakia, no civil war, no violence. Almost like two people getting to a door at the same time, "Oh please you first" "No I insist, you go first". It's great that you're not visiting known tourist traps with 4 hour lineups. Venice was at the top of our list many years ago, now it's not. Safe journey!

@@JimmyandNatalie One more history lesson from the old man and that's it. The Velvet Revolution was in Czechoslovakia 1989. The VERY short story is harsh communist rule for 41 years and in just a few months the people had a republic. There's obviously more to it but the Czechs have no deep resentments or bitterness about their past and it shows. Have a good night.

Oh man! I LOVED the Czech Republic! If you like roasted pork, there's a place called U PROVAZNICE! Also called "The Ropemaker's Wife." The have amazing food. I remember a roast pork knuckle, or shank or some such that came in a braising dish with no sides. It was freaking amazing. I just looked at their website and it was in the pictures, but not on the menu. But if you're going to stay in Prague for a few days, I highly recommend it. Also, if you get the chance, there's a medieval village near the border of Austria called Cesky Krumlov. that was an amazing place. Anyway, glad you kids are enjoying yourselves. Looking forward to more videos.

There is also villa Gerbovka. The villa was finally offered to a group of Czech reformers and American lawyers who created the CEELI Institute and turned the property into a residential training center for legal professionals from across Central and Eastern Europe. Next to the Grotta is also a vineyard, one of several vineyards in Prague. It is interesting that wine is grown in the capital.

Straight from the honest guide 'tube channel "the secret entrance" to the U Pinkasu "hidden beer garden" in the shade. and the cubist lamp. Show Janek and Honzik some love by giving them a shout out for the tips! The foam on the beer is to keep it from oxidizing and losing the flavor. Prague castle buildings are open from 9AM to 5PM with a ticket (that sign by the door shows the entrance/exit location is somewhere else). If you go after 5PM you can see the golden lane for free (in one shot in the background a whole tour group is going into the castle. Granted, that the grotto in Havlicek Gardens is not visited by that many tourists, Havlicek park is very popular. There is chateau that hosts many events, a large playground, and a cafe across from the playground where I have sat enjoying beer while my daughter is playing with the other wild kids. You got that backwards. The Orloj is the 3rd oldest operating clock in the world and the oldest Astronomical clock in operation. It was just repaired before covid. Nice cinematography shots though.

This is the first video I've seen of yours and it was fun to watch! One thing I noticed though, the national anthem is "Where is my home?" and not "Where my home is." It was written during the Germanization period when the Czechs felt that they were losing their culture and homeland.

To your question in 14:40 - the purpose of the grotto is to draw the "wild cave" closer to your home without having to travel God knows how far. It was started by the nobility - especially in Renaissance and Baroque times it was fashionable. There are more of them in Prague - the biggest one is probably in Valdštejn Garden, where the whole south-eastern wall is built like this. In this particular case, the grotto was built by Moritz Gröbe - he was not a Baroque nobleman, but the 19th century a businessman in building railways, which was booming at the time, so he was filthy rich. The park the grotto is in was originally the garden around his villa - he had it built in 1871-88 and the cost of the whole area is equivalent to about 500 million CZK today...

It was hillarious to see you eating the cheese by hands. For the people around you, it was the same, as if you start to eat by hand your stakes... :D There are utensils there for that... :D And it is much easier to take the "dip" by small piece of cheese with potato, than to dip it simply in as a whole. Not to mention it is MUUUUUCH easier to cut the cheese, than to bite it off - because if you are bitting it off, it is not usually clean bite and the rest goes stretchy, like a chewing gum.

great video and good choices of places to visit in Prague. Prague, like most cities, has so many good places and secret spots that are not filled with tourist but are still amazing to see or where to relax. it's great to see and hear that you read about places you are visiting. Many people do the mistake that they read nothing about those places and they can miss a lot. The true charm of old buildings is the history of it. 17:30 wait, did you miss the "show" that goes every full hour? it's the main thing people want to see on Old town square.

Excellent videos lately, folks, thank you SO much for sharing with us. $0.02 from an old fart that has been a traveler since my mid 20's, go cheap on the sleeping places, like you are, smart, but don't go cheap on the extra cultural stuff. That stuff is only in that place and you may only have the one chance to see it, don't pass it up. Also, maybe go outside of the touristy spots more? My favorite parts of France were the small towns like Les Deux Alpes and the castles I stopped to tour on the way there from Paris. Anyway, thank you again for being so kind as to share these times with us and, another $0.02, if you guys just want to take a week off from filming, editing or whatever to enjoy your time together in Europe, do it. After all, this trip should be for the two of you, we are just privileged to share some of it with you :)

The info about the foam in the video isn't true, foam is there to prevent the oxidation of the beer.

Praq is beatifull, but try to visit other places in Czech republic. Many of them has strong history. For example Tabor, which was very importmant in history. Mělník or Litoměřice, from the Moravia, is beatifull Brno or Ostrava. On south you may find České Budějovice, which are really beatifull. On the east, you will find Pardubice or Hradec Kralove, next to them is Kutná Hora, which was most importmant in the history of Bohemia. So if you will vist Czech republic, dont stay only in Prague, but try to visit those cities and you will be supprised how those cities are nice. :)

No matter where you travel. Always.look at the supermarket for cheap meals to eat. It's worth it when you are travelling on a budget.

It's not only about you can't afford eat in restaurant on vacation, but today prices are sometimes that crazy that I just deny to pay that for food, I don't want to support them. I've just returned from Croatia and I can go to restaurant few times during vacation, but seriously, like 30 eur for a fish? Few years ago, you was able to buy food for a week (for one person) for 30 eur and salaries are still the same.

Hey! A local here. The Grotta is hidden maybe for tourists, definetely not for locals. It is a part of park Grébovka where you can find also a vineyard and often quite cool events is happening there.

That O2 phonebox at 7:38 gives that scene away as stock footage ;) The phoneboxes were removed in 2017 or 2018, and the souvenir shop opposite (with the red sign) is a café now 7:27 you're already in the castle, the building behind you is the cathedral
