Thank you for keeping The Dells music alive, I'm LaTanya Junior, daughter of Marvin Junior, lead singer of The Dells. Dad and Johnny Funches wrote Oh What a Night, which changed doowoo music forever helping transforming music into R&B, this song and few others award them induction into the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame I'm pleased you enjoyed The Dells music, 55+ years together with the original members! One of the greatest Doowop songs ever. It was,Jonny Blazing 🔥🔥🔥🔥. I'm listening to this fantastic song since it hit the charts I believe in 68.i still get chills. Great selection guys.👍

This is the group that they were depicting in the movie called "The Five Heartbeats" The Dells were one of the oldest r&b groups going, because they came out back in the 50's as a doo wop group. I wish you would react to the smoothest song of all-times with "What's Come Over Me" by Blue Magic.

Yes! Although there were no drugs and disrespect within the group. They added it to the movie to make it more interesting.

Their song, I Can Sing A Rainbow Blue, is a classic also.

Great song! You played the 1969 version. The Dells first recorded it in 1958. That is worth listening to as well.

Marvin Junior is the powerful lead vocal. Johnny Carter is the high tenor.

I played this 45 record to no ends (1969 versions) as a kid..I still enjoy listen to them! Good stuff mixxed reaction.ty

Just watched the video and thank you for reacting to the Dells if you ever watched the movie The Five Heartbeats this is the Dells. Mainly

Guys the Dells are an old school group based out of Harvey Illinois which is Chicago suburbs they did the soundtrack for the movie Five Heartbeats

I don’t know if anyone told you that the Five Heartbeats movie was based on The Dells. That was the Dells singing the Five Heartbeats songs in the movie.

In the mid to late 60s the Dells were on of the top tier groups. Always good stuff- see the 'Oh what a night' album- Amazon or Apple music. Great stuff!

Chi-town own The Dells. Melvin Jr. the greatest baritone of all time.

The original record was pure doowop without the "soul" at the end and it was great to play it from a jukebox and closely dance with your girlfriend of the week. Doowop music was the only music you could slow dance to or "make out" with. My favorite to make out with was "Crazy for You" by The Heartbeats.

Teddy Pendergrass and David Ruffin looked up to Marvin Junior. David Ruffin gave him the nickname the Iron Throat

Please recognize the difference. Good, trained tenors would usually have a Tenors high C5, but the majority of Tenors range will top out around Bb4-B4. Falsetto is just an untrained portion of the voice. It's very airy, light and will not usually be in unison with the rest of a trained voice. We must give those high tenors their due.
