Great reaction. I was in Warrington, my home town, the day before Johnathan Ball and Tim Parry were killed by an IRA bomb. Dolores, who was touring England at the time, was Incensed and wrote this in anger. Fact! Their recording company gave them a cheque for 1 million pounds not to release the single because it was so controversial. Dolores tore up the cheque. RIP Johnathan, Tim and the wonderful Dolores. We all love you babes.

This song was written after two boys were killed by bomb in a litter bin during "The Troubles" in Ireland/England between the Irish Catholics and the Protestants. They were trying to buy a card for Mother's Day. "Not me, not my family" was a protest that the Irish would say against the IRA . It took one boy a couple days to die "A mother breaking heart is slowly taken". This conflict was constanly on the news. I was probably too young to really pay attention. But it was on the news so often it was hard to ignore. The black and white footage was taken a few day/weeks before the cease fire.

@@davidowens8336 outside boots in Warrington. The IRA rang samaritans and left a coded warning. What the IRA didn't know was that on weekends, the Warrington branch of samaritans is closed, so calls are routed through to Liverpool. So the police started clearing Boots in Liverpool. The IRA had to ring back, as they saw that the Boots on Bridge Street wasn't being cleared. The bomb that killed the two little lads (3 Yr old Johnathan Ball and 12 Yr old Tim Parry) was a "secondary" placed in a waste bin, in a position designed to attack first responders and EOD.

❌️ The tension in Northern Ireland is still there. We took the kids there for a private tour of the area, and the guide was snagging. Hoeven it was very sad to see the divide between the people. There are gates there, that are locked when tension is detected. The people still hate each other... very sad... ❌️
