Starting with " Phenomenon" , to "Force it" , to "No heavy petting" , to "Lights out", to "Obsession" , to "Strangers in the night", every single one of these albums is utterly spectacular and shows the insane progression of Schenker's guitar mastery! My favourite is No heavy petting, one of the most overlooked! The first Schenker era (the 70's) and the second Schenker era (the 90's) are the peak of this legendary band. All the rest is worth a listen too of course, but with Schenket they peaked in everything!

In fact, that's one of the great things about UFO: they had one of the most Metal guitarists in Michael Schenker, one of the best vocalists in Phil Mogg, an outrageous Bass player named Pete Way, a great drummer named Andy Parker but also this great, tasteful keyboardist named Paul Raymond (who also played rhythm guitar)! The had the total package! The "Strangers In The Night" live album will give you a ton to "deep dive" on, trust me!

Diana's voice is like a rainbow of colors now and there's a pot of gold that's the gift at the end of the rainbow, and the rainbows being the various tones that and qualities that she has to offer through the song. Diana's polyphonic overtone sounding is indescribable happiness, delight and goosebumps. To perform all this with a contralto chest register, combining with a mixed and head register, ending each phrase with his own unforgettable yodeling technique, no one is able to perform songs, as Diana does.

I think that this is THEE band (and of the era of the band), that the studio recordings are no match for the LIVE versions that are on "Strangers in the Night". It gave new life to the songs and a young Michael Schenker just killing it on his Flying V. Its great to hear how the studio recordings sounded with all the nuances, but Live, it has a whole different dynamic, and that the band are so tight. Though I know that, especially back in the day, there is a lot of over-dubbing, and many people have mentioned that "Live" recordings back then were harder to pull-off. But still, a fantastic record - my favorite Live Album next to "Deep Purple - Made in Japan".

Michael Schenker is one of the most influential guitarists who still is pretty unknown to the public. People know the players he has influenced but you get blank stares when talking about him. BTW he is the Scorpions' Rudolf Schenker's "little" brother, and had multiple stints at his older brother's band. I like both of them but I enjoy Michael's playing more. He's still going BTW, he's had multiple bands, most of the time it was the Michael Schenker Group, but there also was McAuley Schenker Group, Michael Schenker's Temple of Rock and similar iterations. They're worth listening to as well.

UFO got very little radio play other than college stations back in the day so no surprise you have not bumped into them. A huge influence band cited by members of Def Leppard, Iron Maiden and Metallica amongst others. Michael Schenker is a guitar god, Phil Mogg the vocalist and primary song writer & only original member as of 2019. A GREAT rabbit hole to enter....

I’m embarrassed to say though, I only know three of their songs; “Rock Bottom”, “Too Hot to Handle”, and “Love to Love”. Rock Bottom’s always been my favorite though. It just has this unforgettable guitar riff. Check it out, and you’ll see what I mean. Oh, and by the way, the guitar player is Michael Shenker who was in Scorpions early on with his brother Rudolph Shenker. And Rudolph is still with Scorpions since the beginning! It’s so cool watching people like yourselves discovering all these songs that I grew up listening to and to see you thoroughly enjoying them! Take care, see you soon! 🎸

Trust me you don't look like Micheal Schenker but more like Phil Mogg the singer, Micheal Schenker who made UFO with his outstanding compositions and songs, when he left the Scorpions in 1974 to join UFO that same year they came out with Phenomenon. '74 through '79 were the best years of UFO, after he left it just wasn't the same anymore. Micheal started his own band called MSG (The Micheal Schenker Group) which was also incredible. In fact, many of the newcomer's guitar gods would reference as Micheal being the inspiration for their guitar styles. UFO from 74 thru 79 had the best albums in the world to me but 76 Force it was the ultimate

I was a young preteen brat, and my brother is three years older than me. But one of my brother's friends (and neighbor) had a much older brother that indirectly introduced me to Rush, and probably UFO. He would play his music loud and I was hooked. I would thank him if it were possible! 👍 If I may add, Rush is the best, but everybody reacts to them. Don't stop!!! But more UFO, please!😆

15 years old, standing in a field at the Reading festival, the lights go down, the opening of this song plays, in the dark it seems to feel colder for some reason- the song builds and as they hit the line of 'misty green and blue', blue and green spotlights hit the tons of dry ice they'd pumped into the field. Michael was in the Scorpions for only one full album and part l of another. From 1974-1979, he was with UFO and really took them from obscurity to superstardom. As far as that 80’s metal scene you talked about, Michael Schenker was a major influence on nearly every metal guitarist in the 80’s. Check his wiki page and you will see a list of about 35 guitarists, most of whom you’ve heard of, who list him as a major influence. And it isn’t just because of his play. He is the best metal guitarist ever, in my opinion, bit he also influenced ( And is still influencing) Metal stylistically. Michael popularized the Flying V guitar and most people who play one, even now were influenced either by him directly, or by someone else who was influenced by Michael. To this day, Dave Mustaine of Megadeth tells people he plays a Flying V because of Michael Schenker. By the way, Michael and several members of the Scorpions are from Hanover.
