What a great spring weekend! Maine had just gotten SO MUCH rain, but our "top of the hill" campsite was perfectly dry enough for a great camping experience. This was our first time using Hipcamp in Maine, and I'm so glad we decided to go early in the season. We had the site all to ourselves and got to have the lake almost to ourselves as well! I wouldn't say we're avid kayakers by any means, but we still found rolling the kayaks out by cart to the lake nearby to be pretty easy overall. It has been a warmer winter/spring season, so the bugs were already out, but our Insect Shield treated clothing and clothing bought treated by IS was great for keeping most bugs from being too annoying. A highlight from this trip was listening to the frogs from the pond nearby and the loons by the lake as we drifted off to sleep. Good times, indeed!
