Our Favorite Gear for Backcountry Skiing // Ski Touring Setup // Gear Review and Essentials

Спорт

Subscribe! Paul and I toured up in the Alta backcountry and share our favorite backcountry skiing gear. For me, my five favorite pieces of gear are my Smith Wildcat sunglasses, Norrona 45L backpack, Dynafit insulated bottle and holder, shell and puffy combo, and the Ski Trab overgloves. Paul talks about his five favorite pieces of gear being the Garmin Fenix watch, BCA Link 2.0 radio, merino wool layers, internal beacon pocket in soft shell pants, and the lightweight external bags to expertly organize his backpack.

Had to look up that little Dynafit Primaloft phone pouch bc I had a feeling it was for a phone to keep it warm and make the battery last, haven't thought of that before but I think I'll have to pick one up, don't think it was mentioned here

It works fairly well, though the Dynafit one pictured here needed a way to fasten it from swinging around. Another popular choice is the Mammut version of this, I would go in that direction instead!

@@MacLeanWright thanks, I’ll have to find somewhere to buy it, I’ll probably leave it in my backpack hip pocket anyways so a loop isn’t a dealbreaker anyways

Why do you say the camelbak with the insulated tube doesn’t work for backcountry? I’ve been using that at resorts on my western trips for about 10 years without issue.
