'Our families need it': Russian soldiers demand pay after mobilisation order

Mobilised soldiers from the Omsk region in Russia have recorded a video to say funds they have been given are not enough.
Subscribe to Guardian News on KZread ► bit.ly/guardianwiressub
'We left our families at home, some of us have children,' they said. Vladimir Putin announced a partial mobilisation on 21 September.
Putin has since made televised comments to say he has signed a decree to make 'corrections' to the mobilisation order after thousands of Russians tried to flee the country.
The Russian president said the updated decree would defer conscription for additional categories of students, including certain postgraduate students and those enrolled at accredited private universities.

For those who don’t understand Russian and can only read the subtitles. If only you could understand the way he asked for his demands. His tone of voice and his word choice was so polite, and came from such a hopeless place. His concerns came from a place of pure uprooting confusion, and he literally is asking for the bare minimum to be at least explained to him, not even enacted. Of course he wants to make sure his family is set financially but he is also saying it from a stance where is absolutely uncertain of what will happen. He is saying this because he knows he is bound for death and most likely so are his comrades behind him.

ну про обречение на смерть, это притянуто за уши. Конечно кто-то не вернётся, но все же. Украинцы тоже не бессмертны, и такие же видео есть с их стороны. Но это печально, что им приходиться обращаться к государству по таким элементарным требованием .

My grandfather went in to the trenches at the end of WW2 because he was coal miner which where needed for powering Britain. He was fighting for King and country, and when his leg got shot up the Australians did a great job of patching him up and he was back in England the next day. He sat in a hospital for a year. The country gave him a pension, and kept paying for his orthopedic boots for another 70 years. His treatment 100 years ago is better than what the Russians get now.

Unfortunately for Putin who has no concept of the internet and modern day communications apparently ( he really apparently doesn’t get on the internet at all n has a limited concept of it) even taking men primarily from the countryside won’t work as word travels to fast in todays and age with the internet, smartphones n computers. Wasn't the whole point of the mobilization is to avoid paying for soldiers? Ukraine isn't paying their soldiers (well), but their commitment to fight is there because it's for the defense of their homeland and to drive the invaders off their lands. Meanwhile, there is no incentive for Russians to be there unless they're getting paid. They don't even treat the locals and the mobilized LNR/DNR "mobiki" as equals.

That what I been saying. Russia can not afford mobilization. 1. They have to pay the 300 000 men salary so their families do not starve. That is 0.6 Billion per month assuming 2k $€ average salary. 2. That is 300 000 skilled workers taken out of labor force, the economic impact of that is at least double the, 4K €$ per man: 1.2 Billion €$ per month 3. Then there is men escaping Russian to avoid conscription. That is 250 000 to 750 000 more men out of the labor force. That is 1-3 Billion. And that s not even accounting equipping the men. Although it seems Russian is making the soldiers to buy their own uniforms and kit. But that just makes the low income soldiers family financial situation worse. And adds discontent. As well as Russia not being able to provide upkeep for the conscripts, not even housing and food.

Even many soldiers who had signed 'profitable' contracts some time ago, haven't seen all the promised money yet, nor did their families. And families and wives of killed or missing soldiers haven't seen any of the promised bonuses... So yes, I would be worried if I was one of those mobilized soldiers!

they have two options: 1) the first is to go to prison (from where you will hardly get out, and if you do, your life will be broken) and leave your family useless. 2) go to the front, and it’s not even necessary to shoot someone and get at least some trifle from this. Guess which option the majority will choose
