That’s amazing, I love the difference between them and how they’d be used for different songs/genres
Back in 1958, I wanted a cheap violin for Christmas, but was given a guitar instead, which I didn't want. Both of the instruments were $15, but I think my father believed he could teach me the guitar, not the violin. The only time he tried to teach me the guitar was on moving day, from that house, about 12 years later. I never did learn the guitar, but I eventually repaired my grandfather's old violin and could play a few songs on it. My mandolin and banjo came later in life, and at 76, I have just given them away. Your violins sound fantastic!

You can definitely tell the difference. 1st still sounds very good for being moderately priced but the latter has a clarity and richness that the first just cannot reach. Both are good but it’s clear why the first is more accessible.
I love that their "cheapest" violin still is a very good instrument. A bad instrument can completely ruin your motivation but music stores stock them nonetheless because they sell so many of them and it makes up for a lot of their profit.

Is a 7 string guitar not a guitar when most of them have 6? Is a 6 string bass guitar not a bass guitar when most of them have 4? Regardless of that 7 stringer being closer to a Viol, not necessarily a violin. It plays like a violin, it sounds like a violin (and a viola on those low strings). It's a violin.
If you can’t instantly hear the difference, it might not be your headphone’s fault.
@TheBaldrickk

Mmm. Would be better to have had the same thing played on both. The biggest difference here is in how and what is played.
1st one sounded like a dusk evening on the porch with your family all picking different instruments and drinking and eating and jusg having a good time. Amd the other sounds like you're hearing a work of art. Both beautiful
I didn't expect the difference to be so crystal clear My god money well spent on that Jordan
I like both, but the low end on the expensive sounds NICE
I feel like the first one has quite some resonance, which gives it some metallic notes, while the second one has sharper highs and more mids (not counting the extra strings).
The second one is just straight up... SACRILEGIOUS!!!!
The sound on the expensive one is a LOT brighter and cleaner!
Oh, was expecting non electric instruments. But they do sound legit
They both sound great. Nice playing too!
Wow, what a difference. Both sound great, but that expensive one has a clear, full sound with those extra strings.
Wow!! They sound amazing!!!!
I play acoustic violin, but i for sure want to get an electric violin at some point, especially for clearer direct audio straight to my daw, instead of playing around with EQ to find the right frequencies to cut out the BG noise.
I'm just amazed at how seamlessly he transitioned the expensive one from fiddling into what sounds more like classical style playing. Hopefully I'm that good one day
Thanks for making this!
I feel like both are good in their own instances. To me, expensive sounds modern and the cheap sounds classical.
I absolutely LOVE that expensive one! What tone
I still prefer classic violins but the electric ones look cool too I really just love the wood pattern on especially very obvious wood
The expensive one seems less an instrument and more an art piece that can be used as an instrument
That’s beyond words loveliness!
I used to play the clarinet and had a basic one, but had the privilege of playing a wooden clarinet with gold keys once. Someone in my class got it as a gift from a family member and let us try it out. I was amazed by it. It had such a difference in sound. It was a beautiful instrument.
I've been playing my YEV for 4 or 5 years and it's perfectly good. I run it through a multi effects pedal that also has octave so I don't need a cello glued to it. But, I do regret not getting the 5 string with the added C string.
I like the first one better. I know I shouldn’t but regardless my ears find the that one more satisfying to my ears. I played Tuba so I wasn’t a violinist so I wouldn’t know shit anyway.
@ElectricViolinShop

It's not the majority opinion, but a fair number of people do prefer the first one. It's a quality instrument. And this isn't math class. There's no "right" or "wrong" answer. If it sounds good to you, then it's good.
thought he's gonna pull out a strad out of nowhere
The second one sounds noticeably better
The more expensive one is much smoother and warmer sounding. My 2 cents.
On my shotty phone i can actually hear the difference and ive kinda fell in love on yt shorts listening to expensive violins
The first one sounds like a tavern, the second one sounds like a royal banquet
Yammaha are a jack of all trades. Master of many
WOW, that second one has the range of a cello! As a cellist, count me impressed!
I do have to say the more expensive one does sound a lot better but both are very nice
For reference to non-musicians, my family and I got my viola for around $2k-3k from our local shop in the mid 2000’s. Not electric or anything, just a standard viola. :)

The bow I use on stage costs about $2500.
Has someone who works for a place that sells very expensive guitars, that 5k one is amazing for the price.
So clean, holy. And the reverb!
I'm a double bassist and when I was a kid (by which I mean in my early 20's) I went to a master class by the jazz bassist Gary Peacock. The school - Berklee College of Music - had provided him a student model plywood bass, but when he picked it up to play an example, it sounded just like his playing with Bill Evans or Keith Jarrett. Sound is in the brain & fingers. And then it's good to have decent equipment.
I can't help but sing a sea shanty for both of those comparisons
Oh my gosh I just want to touch it lol it’s so pretty! The expensive violin !
Is it just me or is the simplistic nature of the cheeper one more beautiful? Sure you are getting a wider range of notes with the expensive one, but cutting down on the true "feeling" of the lesser one.
Oh yeah. Major difference in over all timbre. The Jordan was much smoother sounding in the high end. Both incredibly viable for recording and performance though.
Feel like dueling the devil with that bad boy
That 2nd one sounds beautifully harmonized!
Wow the 7 string felt so much more expressive and resonant!
Quality you can hear!!! That was BEAUTIFUL!!! (And the inexpensive one sounded, um, tinny?)
alright. its now a goal to learn violin before i die. the low string on the last one sold me. reminds me of the end notes of "yesterday" by the beatles.
