One very good thing to have is a large box of baking soda. It can be used to put out kitchen fires, even on the stove or food. You can redeem the food by simply rinsing it off. It is good to wash dishes, deodorize containers and clothes, even for brushing your teeth. I clean my skillets and griddle with it and water, no soap. It rinses clean. It just takes a very small amount to get the job done. Happy Trails!

It's always just my husband and I (for years we would camp with others and since they know I cook and bake...guess who was the only one who remembered food and dinnerware?). No more of that! Most of the time if what we makes is cooked in one pan, we skip the plates and just use forks and share. Not for pancakes however!

You have a well organized kitchen gear box. It's amazing what one will cook with and eat out of when camping. I bought most of my kitchen gear at our local Goodwill stores. My dining bowls are large collapsible new dog bowls. For spaghetti pasta I bought one of the Sea to Summit collapsible pots...great space saver. My knives and utensils go into a heavy duty tool roll found at Lowe's. I love the oven you have and I love baking foods, e.g., potatoes, breakfast rolls, donuts, stuffed mushrooms. I've been using a cast iron crock pot but that thing is heavy and not easily packed away. The benefit of watching videos like yours is learning how others organize and applying the knowledge to my kit. I've been car camping for over 50 years but I love picking up tips on fine tuning my own gear. Thank you!

The best thing to clean cast iron or your griddle is fat & salt then you can just wipe it out when done rinse it with hot water, wipe and set it on the stove just long enough to make sure it is totally dry and wipe clean fat on it! Just enough to coat it. Also when putting pots on the open camp fire put dish soap on the outside surface & the black will wash off without scrubbing the pot till your arm has a charlie horse.

We usually stayed where there were hook up with water and electric. We'd fill up that pot with water and plug it in on an outside camp table. We'd have hot water for washing dirty children's hands & faces, plus for dishes. It came in very handy. When packing up it was used to store smaller items in. Loved your video, first time I came accross it. Will keep watching from now on. God bless your family, may you have as many yrs of fun as we had. From Ontario, Ca., to Naples, Fla. Whole East coast. Nice set up for car/family camping. Canoe camping all I use a Rubbermaid Action Packer with a single burner ( gas) cook set and all the food. The Action Packer even doubles as the riverside table and cooking area. For backpacking my Evernew Appalachian Set ( alcohol/wood ) weighs 5.6 ounces and the Evernew titanium non stick frying pan is 4.9 ounces. It fits in my backpack with the food that's repacked in Zip lock Freezer bags. As far as drinking water out of a cup that had Coffee in it , that's how I wash my cup without wasting a single drop of water.

Instead of bying expensive vaccum-insulated bowls you can use two or three of the cheep, thin stainless-steel ones at once. That will give you adequate insulation when needed. Bonus is you have extra bowls on hand, that can be handy when processing food. And they stack better and take less room than the insuated ones you showed in the video.

Like your concept. For years I had always wanted to build the ultimate Chuck Box that would fit anywhere. That has never been found. Totes on the other hand come in so many different sizes they can be adaptable in many ways. Do offer an idea to your plate problem if it can be found to work which I'm not for sure it can is the bamboo like plate that were used to insert paper plates in. Using these if they can be found and your plates will fit in will eliminate the purchase of additional plates or the aluminum plates be used. The only other draw back that I could see about using the vacume plates is that since they have opened up when you wash them a mold could grow inside. Great video just the same only now looking for your Food Storage System of storage. Thanks for sharing your videos with us.

Not using soap on cast iron came from the days when soap was made with lye. Our current soaps don’t have it anymore. So you can use regular dish soap, just don’t let your soapy water soak longer than 5 minutes max, but in general wash cast iron immediately, dry well, and oil removing any excess. Bake 300 degrees for an hour to allow the oil to seep into the iron and harden.

I would also recommend looking into a fire blanket to go with the extinguisher. They are very quick and easy to deploy, extremely effective, they don't make the big mess that an extinguisher does, they're reusable, and they take up practically no room when packed. You can put out a cooking fire with the blanket and still save your food. Which isn't going to happen with an extinguisher. I bring a 3x3 fire blanket as my first go to for 99% of fire situations, then the extinguisher as my backup in case things really start to get real. If you've never looked into fire blankets you should really check them out, they are pretty great.

I've been looking far and wide, but seems that the Coleman camp oven is no longer being made. Any thoughts on where to purchase?

This is some really great info, I'm currently running a tote as my whole kitchen storage as well. I'm going to toss a brush in my kit after seeing that you carry one.

When your dish rack wears out just get a mesh bag you can hang from a tree. Dishes dry quick in that too. I have yet to try my coleman oven. Dont you keep your extended lighters in the tote too? My kitchen has a sink too a collapsible bucket. Im by myself yet i have a set for 4 packed. But also have multiple cook sets. Just bought some silicone oven mitts, glad to remove the cloth ones. Im constantly looking for upgrades or additions to make a complete kitchen out in the woods.

I am a new sub! Really loved this video. I am not well enough to do the camping thing but I live my dreams through videos like this one! A bunch of us would go tent camping and cave exploring when I was young, but my real interest in camping didn't start until a few years ago. I enjoy watching everything that goes into it and the little adventures while camping! Thank you for sharing with us! Enjoy!!

We love our oven (thanks for telling us about it), and from you we have revised our kitchen some. Now I'm off to find the half cookie sheet. :-) Also the skillet is a great thing too. For baggies, we also carry some 1/2 gallon size for those instances when a gallon is too big and a quart too small. TIP: The container that Lysol wipes come in makes a great storage place for those grocery store bags. Cut the plastic out of the top, under the lid, then stuff'em in and pull out as needed.

If you haven't already found what you need, Google: Toaster Oven Accessories. I have several pans and even a pizza stone, originally sold for electric toaster ovens that fit my Colman Folding Oven.
