Just throwing it out there, midwives are trained for shoulder dystocia and many other “emergent” things. Midwives are constantly seeking further education and bettering themselves, learning and work so hard. Many O.b’s don’t even do that! Just want people aware of how amazing home birth midwives are. Many are just fantastic so wanted that put out there. ❤️

You're 💯 right... there are some OB's who would push an emergency c-section, VS going through the process, that they did with Abby. I've seen midwives deliver babies in situations where a Dr. probably wouldn't.

I live in the Netherlands. Home birth is pretty normal here. The midwives are trained and it's just as safe as in the hospital. I love the part that we have postpartum care, a nurse will help for like a week and check your stitches and help with breastfeeding and taking care of the baby. Mostly my partner learned so much from her when I was in bed recovering.

most countries outside of america have a standarized education and certification track for midwives. america just simply doesnt and midwives can be hit or miss. the complications that americans face in home births compared to similar nations is ridiculously higher. it's a standardizing issue here not really a competency issue in midwives in other nations

@@shannonabbeygender disappointment is definitely a real thing. I get pissed when people shame a parent for being disappointed in the gender of the baby. In most cases the reactions arent extreme like sad crying ect. But when you get pregnant and start picturing your life with your child, sometimes the gender you wanted or imagined having first isnt the reality. Ans its ok you still love your child, its a natural part if the pregnancy journey in my eyes. Watching you guys brings back so many memories. I'm an old guy I lost my wife last year after almost 42 years of marriage. My kids have grown up and moved on with their lives. Just as you two have done with your parents. I've got grand-kids that I don't get to see that often. This house is quiet when once it was so full of life. Hold on to each other make plans but be open to life changing them in the blink of an eye. Hopefully you won't grow old with nothing but the memories.

This is so sad. I'm 23 and always wanted to see the world and experience life. But since my grandma died I'm feeling bad for leaving my parents alone and not cherishing my time with them together more. I'm living 2 hours away now and I'm sad that the time that we saw each other everyday is basically over. I regret it in a way. It must be incredibly lonely for parents to see their kids go and see how their priorities shift from them to their boyfriends/ girlfriends that easily.

Hang in there! My husband & I tried for years. Went to the U of MN, the whole 9 yards. We were told for some reason unknown, we couldn’t have kids. So we decided to buy an old home & restore it & get it up to code so we could adopt/foster. So we ran out of money, poor as church mice, with a gutted house, stacks of building materials & dangling electrical cords. It was crazy. Then I literally woke up one morning & had breasts. I thought, “This is new.” Lo & behold 283 days later, we had our daughter. It DOES HAPPEN. HANG IN THERE & RELAX. Don’t pressure yourself. Try not to overthink it, keep up posted!!!

A C-section isn't just an easy way out! They are most definitely just as hard and challenging!

I agree. I tried to birth my first 2 daughters naturally, and my body wouldn't dilate. I tried for 16 hours with my first with lots of pitocin. I didn't dilate and had an emergency c section because my daughter was in distress. My second, I had 2 balloons and pitocin for 48 hours and didn't dilate, and they had already broken my water at 43 hours, so they had to do a c-section for her. For my 3rd, they wouldn't let me try again, so I had a planned c section. Each c-section was harder than the last.

I've had two C-sections as well. I wasn't given the chance to try natural for the sake of mind and the babies health. I would have loved to been able to have my babies naturally!

You do what you have to do. The most important thing in the end is the health of the baby and the mom. C-section moms are just as strong as the mommas who push the baby out.

Abby, i had my first baby at 22(he is 28 now)….be patient. It takes about a year for your postpartum body (and brain) to feel remotely normal. Your heart will never be the same, though…it forever lives out of your chest now. Also, guys….think about how awesome your life will be in your 50’s…..we are having a blast enjoying our empty nest and are young and healthy enough to travel and enjoy our lives. I love watching you guys! Can’t wait to see Griffin toddling around and chatting it up! Thanks for sharing!

Abby, thank you for sharing that you also struggle with anger and all types of emotions while pregnant. I did as well. I just want to say I am impressed how Matt is choosing not to take that personally. Unfortunately, my partner did, and we are currently separated. My pregnancy was very hard, and I almost died giving birth. So, it is refreshing to know I wasn't the only one who experienced mood swings while pregnant. I also experienced postpartum depression.

I love y'all so much! I do want to share that false positives are rare but do happen... It happened to my cousin and then my husband and I struggled to get pregnant and had a false positive a little while ago which is devastating when you are trying for almost 3 years. BUT I'm happy to say we are currently 13 weeks pregnant and expecting a little boy after we had given up, so I'm excited to watch your shared journey through this too! Much love! ❤

I would encourage you to do some more research on it. If you got a positive and then a negative shortly after the most common cause is a chemical pregnancy (you were pregnant and had a very early miscarriage). Having been through that it can be confusing. Real false positives usually only happen with a medical condition causing production of HCG (like a tumor). If you use blue dye tests you can be more likely to think you got a positive also because the dye pools weird and evaporates strangely. I really recommend first response and other pink dye tests. Congrats on your baby!

I think it’s pretty natural to be embarrassed talking about very private things in front of what is basically thousands of people, lol. I know what you mean - but I think couples (even influencers) have to be careful not to over share if it makes their spouse uncomfortable. ❤
