Our Backyard GOLF Hole is Nearly Complete!

Our backyard golf hole is nearly complete! This week we used our new Ag-Fab 48' plug aerator and punched holes in the entire fairway to prepare for seeding. We then came in and spread rye grass seed throughout the entire fairway using our Scotts drop spreader and broadcast spreader, raked it in with our landscape rake and garden rake, and then covered it all up with a light coating of wheat straw. We got rain the next day, and I expect it to green up quick! Our backyard golf hole should be looking great come next years Masters Week and our dream golf homestead continues to get better!

Looks like the 18 in augusta from the tee box. Going to look really nice.

The rye will probably start growing on the green. It’ll grow anywhere.

Yeah, they say that grass seed won't germinate in silica sand, but rye seed says "hold my beer"! I always find myself in early spring crawling around the green on my hands and knees picking one sprout at a time...🤣🤣

So do you have to do this every year?

Not to this extreme. I'm in the beginning phase of trying to get a really nice fairway established. Once that happens, it will be a little easier where I just have to aerify, over-seed, fertilize, and sand a few times per year.
