Thank you for showing perspective on a day that really was not what you expected or wanted and how you moved on with grace.

You have inspired me so much with your chickens and kitchen garden and I am now the proud mom of 4 beautiful chickens. They are so special and feels like I just want to spend the whole day with them. It is amazing how they each have their own little personalities. I have harvested my sweet potatoes and just planted my sweet peas. I feel so nature inspired. Happiness overload. Thank you for being such an inspiration Lydia.

Speaking with an expert in their line of work whether it is a chef, gardener’s or any number of careers allows you to gain insight and knowledge that a book simply cannot provide! With age comes wisdom…your acceptance of the unfortunate flooding is a milestone of knowing that you have grown to capture one’s thoughts and take back control of them takes some a lifetime to understand once you succeed you will flourish! this basement situation reminds me of my favourite vlogmas of yours I believe it was 2017 when you had a plumbing problem in your old house so you had to go to gym to take a shower and you had a similar kind of approach to it, laughing about that glam life :D you still have that good humour in you

Oh my goodness, Lydia! I can’t believe the week that you had - between this blog and the last! That was absolutely jampacked, but what a lot of productivity, career highlights, and fun! Congratulations on everything.

I'm in the middle of a reno. I feel the pain. Never question a de-humidifier. That was a lot of water. One of my trades screwed up and my floor in one bedroom was soaked. My contractor came in with a wet vac, five buckets, of water sucked up.... a Humidifier and heater. Worked like a charm. But it still took a week.

Wow beautiful thoughtful gifts from your dear friends. I must say, I was so captivated by your demeanor and reaction to the wet basement. You had the don't stress about the small stuff/ carefree kind of vibe that I want in my life. I really need to read your book now!

Ohhhh if it was me, I would turn that space into a library study! All the books. Also have you thought about putting the bar in a darker area so the all the light can flood in? You could treat it like a garden room with loungers.

The mini heat wave we received recently lead to a lot of garden time and I’m almost finished reading Evergreen. It has been such a lovely read truly enlightening and uplifting. I usually read gritty academic books, or enjoy anything philosophical. But the delivery in this book of gently crafted inspiration that feels nourishing but so digestible and smooth. Has made for a wonderful experience! I just bought a book yesterday inspired by the notes in evergreen, called “around the world in 80 plants”. I can’t wait to continue with the spring reading. ❤

Hello. Fox poo tip. Tomato sauce removes and neutralises the smell of fox poo. Put on stinkiest areas, leave couple mins, rinse, proceed with dog shampoo. Voila!

Lydia, the organizing of your wardrobe...be still my heart. I do mine twice a year, and it truly calms my soul. I feel so good afterward. My father used to say a tidy workspace = a tidy mind. The decision to have those expert Ladys do this for you in your busy life is worth every penny!

Yes, you do have an older audience 😄 I am 55yrs young and been around for years. I also love Jo. You both have lovely happy vibes. I have never used an organizer but you have been in my wardrobe with me on a number of occasions as I iron, organise and sort.

Really enjoyed this vlog. Especially seeing how you’re adding more traditional materials to your contemporary house. We also have a similar house full of contemporary shapes and windows and exterior so I can appreciate seeing how you want to change the interior. I’m too scared to do such a drastic style change from my contemporary design 😊 happy to see how you go

Hi =) Just want to share my mum's trick for a flooded flat: use a dustpan to shovel the water into a bucket. The plastic ones with the rubber strip at the front are perfect for this use. Using a silicone waterblade (squeegee) like a broom also makes things easier.

Thank you for your talk on not letting unexpected events ruin your whole day and catastrophising. My LG fridge broke and started smoking late at night yesterday. I’m so worried about how the smoke fumes may have affected the family but I actually need to remember that we are all lucky that I was still awake when it happened and could deal with it. It’s difficult though not to let these thoughts of ‘what if’ consume the whole day. I hope that I can put your words into practice Lydia 😊 xx

Having had water in a few of my homes. please learn from me, and hire a company to bring in a giant fan used for flooded homes. You are running a huge risk of having mold inside the walls. Seeing the bubbles on the wall If it were me I would hire a professional flood company. You don’t want to go to sell your house and find out you have mold. Now THAT is a huge expense as well as personal liability. You handled it much the way I have learned to, oh well, look at the little froggies, how cute. It doesn’t change anything to get yourself upset, except maybe being upset brings more problems. Good luck

We had flooding in our basement for several years - we had it fixed both outside and inside and we've never had it happen again. Sort the flooding out first. I speak of experience unfortunately!
